When you lose your own state; when you lose nearly every state that you campaigned in; when you lose states you have consistently carried; when you say that your programs and policies are on the ballot and you lose, ushering in historic wins for the other side, then there's a five-syllable word for the size and importance of what happened. It's called a repudiation!
