The Prison Ministry Program of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia seeks to carry out the Biblical work of mercy to “visit those in prison.” By a constant presence in the correctional facilities located within its boundaries, the Church responds to the pastoral and sacramental needs of prisoners, their families, and victims of crime.
Opening in 1995, CFCF is the largest facility in the Philadelphia Department of Prisons. It is named in honor of Warden Patrick N. Curran and Deputy Warden Robert F. Fromhold, who were killed in the line of duty at Holmesburg Prison in1973.
Pope Francis visited CFCF during his 2015 visit to the City of Philadelphia. The Holy Father met with select inmates and their families as well as prison staff.
Any questions, clarifications or concerns should be directed to the Philadelphia Department of Prison’s Public Information Office at 215-685-7888 (o) or 215-827-8334(m).
