More Than 3,500 Gifts, Lovingly Collected!

Saint Mary Catholic School in Schwenksville (Montgomery County) will hold a blessing and send-off celebration for their collection of more than 3,500 gently used pairs of shoes, which began on January 2nd as a grass roots fundraising effort by the school and spread throughout the parish and community.

Father Louis Bellopede, Pastor of Saint Mary Parish, will preside over the blessing of the shoes to be donated, as well as the truck and driver making the delivery. Students, faculty, and staff will gather outside of the school on the walkway for the blessing.

The shoes will be shipped via the organization funds2orgs to developing nations around the globe to supply micro-economies. This was a fundraiser for Saint Mary School that involved no selling on the part of the students or parish. Students reached out to their family, friends, and parishioners for donations of gently worn shoes of all shapes, sizes, and styles and response was overwhelming. The students then packed over 140 pairs of shoes for pick-up.
