What We Could Learn From Bratislava . . . .

Bratislava
Bratsialva is the capital of Slovakia and it's a thriving city of more than 600,000 people that occupies both sides of the Danube and also borders both Austria and Hungary.
Since its "velvet divorce" from the former Czechoslovakia in 1993, Slovakia has prospered thanks to low corporate taxes and a concerted effort to attract businesses and jobs. It's a business-friendly place!
Today, Bratislava's unemployment rate is about 1.8 percent and service and high-tech-oriented businesses continue to make this country their home. Many global companies, including IBM, Dell, Lenovo, AT&T, SAP, and Accenture, have built outsourcing and service centres here. In addition to low taxes and other incentives, reasons for the influx of multi-national corporations include proximity to Western Europe, a skilled labour force and the high density of universities and research facilities.
The Bratislava Region is the wealthiest and most economically prosperous region in Slovakia, despite being the smallest by area and having the second smallest population of the eight.
Our visit to Bratislava highlighted the history and culture of this region and took us along the river, up and down hills, around meandering passageways and into the old city and the town square.
We had a great time in this surprisingly intimate city with its friendly people.
