From A Catholic: 'Deep Concern' Over Pope's Salvos

Posted by "independent opinion columnist" Joseph Fosco on facebook:

I would never suggest that any Pope - or any sitting President and leader of the free world - suffers from “persecutory concerns” or a “delusion of omnipotence,” especially regarding those who should be natural allies. I lack both the training and the authority to analyze anyone’s emotional or psychological state, and doing so would be disrespectful to every reader.
That said, Pope Leo XIV’s strongest words yet, reported today by the Chicago Sun-Times, denouncing the “delusion of omnipotence” fueling the U.S.-Israel effort in Iran, clearly point toward President Trump. As a devout Catholic, I simply note this pattern with filial respect and deep concern. It is precisely why I pray - and ask fellow Christians to join me - that the Holy Father receive God’s blessing to extend the same compassion and understanding to the right and just actions of conservative believers that he so readily shows to liberal voices.
At the same time, I pray God continues to bless and protect President Trump, who has already overcome extraordinary challenges. May the same divine hand that has guided him grant him victory in shielding America and the free world from the Iranian regime - a regime infamous for nearly fifty years of terrorism, hostage-taking, civilian human shields, and chants of “death to America.”
For the good of the Church and the safety of the world, may greater moral clarity prevail.
