Oh Yeah, THAT Time Is Almost Upon Us!
The 119 parish and regional elementary schools in the five-county Archdiocese of Philadelphia officially begin the first day of school on Wednesday, September 6th.
Many elementary schools will hold opening week school liturgies in church to unite students, faculty, and staff in prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Additionally, two schools have special events planned for the first week of the fall semester.
Agnus Dei Academy of Saint Mary Catholic School in Schwenksville (Montgomery County) will celebrate its grand opening of this new Pre-K program with a ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing. Father Louis P. Bellopede, Pastor of Saint Mary Parish, will preside. During the ceremony two academy rooms will be blessed and crosses will be hung in each room. Those in attendance for the ceremony will include all school students as well as teachers, staff, parishioners, and parents. A 200 balloon launch will conclude the ceremony.
Saint Mary Catholic School closed its preschool program in June. Over the summer, after a year of planning and preparations, the rooms of the new Agnus Dei Academy at Saint Mary’s were renovated with paint, flooring, and decor. This new Pre-K program will include updated teaching methods, will be based around learning centers, and will incorporate the best practices and academic curriculum from various pedagogy.

To mark the start of the new school year, Holy Trinity Catholic School in Morrisville (Bucks County) will celebrate “National First Day” on Friday, September 8th. This annual celebration involves the entire school community – students, parents, parishioners, volunteers, faculty, staff, and administration – as they join together under this year’s theme, “Holy Trinity School: To Space and Beyond.” The day is also a way to celebrate the first day that all Holy Trinity students, Pre-K through eighth grade – come to school together. This event also acts an introduction and welcome for all new Holy Trinity School families.

The More We See It The More Incredible It Seems!
It's truly laughable.
But it's also instructive, sad and, in a freakish way, unsurprising. And, it's very reflective of the world we live in and the society that surrounds us.
In fact, it's ridiculous, preposterous and disheartening all at once.
Look at these photos.
Look at them!
You're looking at the writer for Vogue magazine who reportedly lambasted Melania for wearing high heels to visit Texas flood victims. Only problem is, Melania didn't wear heels. On Air Force One (on the way to the event) she changed into a slacks and sneakers along with a baseball-style cap that said FLOTUS.
But just look at Lynn Yeager (above) the writer who criticized Melania's fashion sense. Maybe you need another photo.
Can you imagine this?
Can you imagine this woman criticizing anybody's sense of fashion or style or dress or whatever?
Can you? We didn't think so.
Now, just look at both of them side-by side as we rest our case.
Well, Maybe They SHOULD Remove Those Statues!
Here is a very important message from the Cardinal Newman Society:
Yikes. When the Newman Society starts arguing for the removal of Catholic artwork from a Catholic school, I get nervous.
You too?
But in the case of a school that is rapidly shedding its Catholic identity, maybe it’s time for a reckoning! Perhaps the school ought to “decommission” and stop claiming to provide a Catholic education.

You’ve probably heard about San Domenico School, the 167-year-old Catholic school in the Bay Area of California, which removed 162 paintings and statues—including one of the Blessed Mother and Baby Jesus—for fear of “alienating” atheists and students of other faiths.As Dan explains, this is just one of several signs of problems at this school.
This completely misses the point of Catholic education: “securing the Supreme Good, that is, God, for the souls of those who are being educated,” according to Pope Pius XI.
Catholic schools and homeschools must respond with clear, dynamic, and challenging instruction that presents a higher path, a better way that explicitly addresses our students’ weaknesses and misconceptions about themselves, the Church, and reality.
That is why the Newman Society is committed to promoting and defending faithful Catholic education. It makes a critical difference in the lives and souls of our youth.
Please say a prayer for all who work in Catholic education this Labor Day. May the Holy Spirit touch their hearts and minds as they head back to the classroom next week. And please pray for the families who are suffering in Houston!
