The Miracle That Proves Mothers Matter
A small miracle is taking place at the Grenloch Community Center at 456 Hurffville Grenloch Rd, Washington Twp, NJ.
That's where the Lauren Rose Albert Foundation is assembling thousands of gift baskets for Mothers Matter, its Mother's Day gift basket project.
These beautiful baskets of personal care items will be presented by children to their single moms in need. Many of these mothers are living in homeless shelters or in centers for abused women. These women are facing difficult challenges. The gift baskets are a loving reminder that Mothers really DO matter.
The baskets are delivered to women’s shelters, children’s pediatric hospital wards and centers, day care centers and facilities or agencies such as Ronald McDonald House, the Veterans Home, Samaritan Hospice, Cooper House, MatriArk House, Robin’s Nest and Providence House.
This is an all-volunteer project is now celebrating its 10th anniversary. It's part of the Foundation that was started by Susan Rose of Cherry Hill (pictured above) to honor the memory of her daughter, Lauren.
Today, Susan Rose remains the driving force behind the program but she has since been joined by hundreds of volunteers and generous donors including Star Touring & Riding - Chapter 287. These motorcyclists are doing a fantastic job sorting personal care items and filling the baskets. Their club ( husbands, wives, children) under the leadership of President Frank Jennings, joins the Foundation every Wednesday night at the community center to help assemble the baskets. They helped deliver Mother's Day gifts last year and will do so again this year. Their June 5th Poker Run fundraiser will benefit Mothers Matter.
And, BTW: Many of the items are provided by the regional Dollar Tree Stores and district manager John Denning.
