Speaking on a TV program yesterday, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said the current economic crisis will continue for millions of Americans.
Geithner, on NBC’s “Meet the Press”, said the Obama administration remains aware that the current economic conditions are difficult for much of the nation’s population. But then Geithner added even worse news: for many people “it’s going to feel very hard, harder than anything they’ve experienced in their lifetime now, for a long time to come.”
Geithner (who became Treasury Secretary despite the fact that he didn't pay his own taxes in a timely fashion) should have never been confirmed for the post in the first place. But after 30 months on the job, he's helped to preside over an economic policy that has failed -- totally and completely. He should be canned.
BTW: Geithner's pronouncement hearkens back to the final days of the abysmal Carter administration when the so-called "Misery index" soared to new heights and the American people were effectively told: "Get used to it."
