The left plans to protest Pat Toomey's Center City Philadephia office, today, Wednesday, August 10.
In Moveon.org's own words:
"Late Friday afternoon, the United States had its credit rating downgraded for the first time in our history. The "tea party downgrade" came largely because Republicans in Congress blocked each and every attempt to make the rich and big corporations pay their fair share. It's up to us to make sure Congress hears how angry we are at what's happening right now in America. That's why we're joining with partners in the American Dream movement to hold "Jobs Not Cuts" events at district offices nationwide Wednesday. Can you help make sure Sen. Pat Toomey gets a wakeup call to start creating jobs and stop cutting our path to the American Dream?
When you sign up, you can indicate if you're currently unemployed (or underemployed) and willing to share your story-it's the stories from our community that will really help get Congress and the local media to pay attention. Then come out on Wednesday, August 10, at 12 p.m.-and wear your red, white, and blue clothes so we can show everyone what the American Dream movement is all about.
Senator Toomey was a clear leader in an attempt to prevent the downgrading of America's credit rating. The Senator authored a proposal that would have balanced the federal budget in nine years. It was, of course, rejected in the Senate in a mostly party line vote
If there is any way you could show your appreciation to Senator Toomey by attending our Counter Rally/Press Conference tomorrow, we would greatly appreciate it!
We are also asking that you contact Senator Mitch McConnell and request that he appoint Senator Toomey to one of the three Republican seats on the Special Committee dealing with the budget crisis.
After recent successful counter rallies at the offices of Congressmen Pat Meehan and John Runyan in which we outnumbered Moveon.org by 4-1 and 5-1 ratios respectively, we are, once again, being called to action.
