At the White House the Obamas partied into the night last night with rappers and Hollywood stars while barely six in 10 work age Americans have jobs, food stamp use rises to all time highs and the stock market continues its dive.
The party was closed to the media and not on the president's official schedule.
Though it was held in the "nation's house" it was a strictly private event -- an event for the elites, the high-rollers and bankrollers the well-connected and the self-appointed glitterati.
Among those there: Jay Z, Chris Rock, Herbie Hancock, Whoopi Goldberg, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Obama's former Chief of Staff, Stevie Wonder, Charles Barkley, Tom Hanks, Emmitt Smith, Hill Harper, Ledisi and politicos Reid, Pelosi, William Daley and Obama Chief Chum Valerie Jarrett. That last group surely proves that politics is show business for ugly people.
Anyway, word is they were dancing barefoot in the Rose Garden as tables were pushed aside and guests made the property their own.
