BRILLIANT! Philly Flower Show Dazzles Crowds

BRILLIANT! is the appropriate theme of the British-insipred Philadelphia Flower Show this year and from the moment you enter the grand exhibition hall of the Philadelphia Convention Center you will be dazzled by the colors, flowers and gardens of Great Britain. Even Big Ben is there to welcome you and the iconic clock face puts on a surprising show every hour that features all things British including The Beatles and Monty Python (see below). From traditional English gardens to newfangled interpretations the show (which runs through March 10) has it all. Don't miss it!

At this year's Philadelphia Flower Show we met someone who traveled all the way from the UK to find a big chunk of British horticulture in America's birthplace.
James Coplestone told us he is having a wonderful time on his first trip to Philadelphia. James is the James part of Robert James and Wonderland Bronze, a firm that produces literary masterpieces in bronze including Alice, Cheshire Cat, The Mad Hatter, The Kanve and others now on display at the Flower Show at Petals Lane in Exhibition Hall B.
James is one of the reasons why this year's show is so authentic. This isn't faux-British. This is the real thing.
James' garden delights are sculpted and cast in Great Britain and they alone are worth the price of admission to the show but there's so much more: Floral and garden displays of every size, shape and caliber, tons of workshops and information session, a huge market selling everything related to flowers and gardens and more food outlets and eateries (many with British treats) than you can imagine.
The show runs now through March 10 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in center city Philadelphia. The show is open every day from 10 AM till 9 PM. Best time to visit is usually during the dinner hour (4:40 - 6:30) when crowds are less dense. But anytime's a good time to see the show as the convention floor is spacious and inviting.
