“For more than a century, Fulper Farms has been based on the values of the Fulper family and has maintained a standard of producing quality products,” said Acting Governor Guadagno. “This family-owned business continues its long legacy of accomplishments by working together and creating new avenues to be innovative and relevant in today’s competitive agricultural marketplace. We are proud of the Fulper family and wish them continued success for generations to come.”
Started in 1909 by Mary Fulper, the farm began with a single cow and vegetable crops. Over the next century, the family’s strong work ethic, commitment to family values and passion for farming increased the Farmstead’s scope and production. Through the 1940’s, the farm grew tomatoes for Campbell’s Soup and hauled vegetables to the Trenton Farmer’s Market. Today, with more than 1200 acres of farmland for corn, straw, hay corn and soybeans, as well as 200 milking cows, the dairy farm produces and sells milk, yogurt and a line of fresh cheese products including mozzarella, ricotta and mozzarella string cheese. This fifth-generation family-owned business continues to pave the way for “greener” dairy farm practices, including solar renewable energy system, soil conservation methods and nutrient recycling plans. In 2009, Fulper Farms received a Dairy of Distinction Award from the Northeast Dairy Farm Beautification Program. The honor goes to dairy farms that are attractive, well-kept and promote a good dairy industry image. The farmstead also received an Honorable Mention in the 2013 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Awards.
Fulper Farms has also created an agritourism branch that provides opportunities to educate the public through tours, field trips and the Farmstead Adventure Summer Camp that offers unique fun on the farm experiences.

Agriculture is New Jersey’s third largest industry. In 2012, the state’s 9,071 farms generated sales totaling $1.14 billion. With 715,057 acres of farmland, the Garden State produces more than 100 varieties of fruits and vegetables that are enjoyed throughout the Northeast, in Canada and globally.
The Dairy Industry remains one of the state’s top agriculture commodities with active farms supplying 7% of the state’s fluid milk requirements and generating $24.2 million in farm sales in 2012.
