College Hockey Faceoff Set For January In Philly

It's a hat trick for Penn State University and University of Vermont as the two schools will play for the third consecutive year as part of the College Hockey Faceoff at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, January 31 at 1 p.m.
Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, August 12 at 10 a.m. exclusively through ComcastTIX online at ComcastTIX.com, by phone at 1-800-298-4200 or in person at Wells Fargo Center box office.
Penn State will be entering its third year as an NCAA Division I ice hockey program and its second year in the Big Ten Hockey Conference.  The Nittany Lions finished 8-26-2 last season, including a run to the semifinals in the Big Ten Tournament.  Head coach Guy Gadowsky recently expressed his excitement for things to come as they return 90-percent of their roster for the 2014-15 season.

Vermont finished the 2013-14 season with a mark of 20-15-3, their first winning-season in four years. The Catamounts qualified for their sixth NCAA Tournament in school history and made the Hockey East playoffs for the eighth time in the last nine seasons. They will return 61-percent of their scoring for the upcoming campaign.
The Catamounts won last year’s second College Hockey Faceoff by a score of 5-2, evening the series 1-1 against Penn State who won during the inaugural event in 2013.

A total of nine local athletes will be on display during the College Hockey Faceoff. Penn State is represented by five locals of Greater Philadelphia including defenders Connor Valley (Lansdale, PA), Peter Sweetland (Newtown, PA) and David Thompson (Glen Mills, PA), forward Ricky DeRosa (Aston, PA) and goalie Eamon McAdam (Perkasie, PA). Vermont is represented by four locals including forwards Chris McCarthy (Collegeville, PA), Kyle Mountain (Bryn Mawr, PA), Brendan Bradley (Warminster, PA) and Nick Luuko (West Chester, PA).

Fans can enjoy a doubleheader of hockey as the Philadelphia Flyers host the Toronto Maple Leafs later in the evening at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, January 31 at 7 p.m. This game can be purchased as part of an 11-game partial plan now by calling 215-218-PUCK or online atPhiladelphiaFlyers.com.
