Here is a very special message from The Cardinal Newman Society:
One day before the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Loyola University Chicago will host a journalist who once thanked God for abortion on television.
That's how they choose to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr., whose public witness for God-given rights and human dignity is apparently much-needed today at Chicago's Jesuit university.
Students, faculty and staff from Newman Guide-recommended Catholic University of America and Walsh University choose to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day by setting campus records for community service.
We thank God for the Newman Guide colleges, which are preparing students for lives of faithful service to the Church! We report this week on a Thomas Aquinas College graduate who is headmaster of The Lyceum, a classical Catholic school, and a Christendom graduate who credits the College with her decision to do missionary work.
We desperately need good leaders to make the tough decisions to protect religious freedom—which Pope Francis calls a "fundamental human right." A Charlotte Catholic school had to dismiss an employee after he announced his same sex-marriage, and Archbishop Wenski of Miami candidly reminded employees about their obligations to uphold Church teaching.
Also... when the a former Georgetown leader was named the new Catholic Charities USA president this week, only your Cardinal Newman Society reported these details about lobbying for Obamacare despite the bishops' concerns about abortion.
Just thought you'd want to know.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Patrick Reilly
President
