All Philadelphia public schools and Archdiocesan schools in Philadelphia are closing at 1 p.m today due to the expected onset of inclement weather. According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect this afternoon for the possibility of freezing rain and sleet. Precipitation will begin between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Philadelphia and continue through the evening rush hour.
The very cold ground will allow for ice to quickly accrete on untreated surfaces, creating the potential for travel delays and disruption.After school activities are canceled. Schools outside the city also are closing early. A list can be found by clicking here.
