Beloved South Jersey Landmarks Evokes Memories

The Hawaiian Cottage was a Polynesian-style restaurant on Route 38 in Cherry Hill. It had a pineapple-shaped dome on the outside, and a Hawaiian atmosphere which included faux palm trees a luau show. The big pineapple was actually a gift shop that you could not miss when entering or exiting thia exotic domain. You could have an tropical drink inside (complete with a distinctive take home glass and little umbrella) and then enjoy a delicious plate of ravioli. Go figure! The building was destroyed by fire in 1978. Several chain restaurants followed on the site and today it hosts an Olive Garden.
