Testa Announces 'New Jersey First' Agenda

Today, New Jersey State Senator Michael Testa (R-1) announced his intention to introduce his “New Jersey Comes First” legislative package. The package would end New Jersey’s sanctuary state polices and ensure local communities have all the resources they need to provide services for all New Jerseyans.

“Congress has failed to do its job when it comes to our country’s immigration crisis and Governor Murphy’s harmful sanctuary state polices have made it more difficult for our municipalities to provide the services our constituents rely on,” said Sen. Testa. “The far-left’s open border policies are draining our already strained resources. This package of bills will ensure New Jerseyans come first and prevent our schools, hospitals, law enforcement, and local communities from being overburdened.”

Package highlights:

  • Prohibits municipal ordinance to create sanctuary cities.
  • Repeals the Attorney Generals 2018 “Immigrant Trust Directive.”
  • A resolution to urge Congress and the President to enact immigration policies that better serve the national interest.
