About That Eagles White House Super Bowl Visit

Let's get this clear: The visit is customary and has been so for 45 years dating back to 1980 when President Carter welcomed that year's Super Bowl winners to the White House.

The invite is a mere formality. Super Bowl winners go to the White House. The president makes a presentation to the team and the team usually gives the president some sort of gift such as a team jersey.

It was Eagles team members themselves who sullied this tradition in 2018 when many of them refused to go to the White House. AGAIN: Refusing to attend is cheap and petty. It dishonors the White House and the institution of the presidency. It's not a sensible or appropriate option.

Let's hope the tradition endures this year.
