From a friend, writing today on facebook -- and so well written:
I strongly condemn the stance of New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Spadea, who has expressed unwillingness to support his primary opponent, Jack Ciattarelli, in the general election should Ciattarelli win the GOP nomination on June 10, 2025. Spadea’s reported comments, made during an X Spaces discussion, suggest he would rather see a “woke ultra-liberal Democrat” prevail than back Ciattarelli, a fellow Republican with a proven track record of uniting the party and nearly defeating Gov. Phil Murphy in 2021.This position is deeply troubling and undermines the unity needed to advance conservative values in New Jersey. By prioritizing personal grievances over the broader goal of defeating a Democratic opponent, Spadea risks fracturing the Republican base and handing the governorship to a candidate whose policies may starkly contrast with the priorities of GOP voters. His characterization of Ciattarelli as “anti-gun, pro-abortion, pro-illegal” ignores Ciattarelli’s strong conservative credentials, including his 75% rating from the American Conservative Union and his commitment to working with President Trump’s America First agenda.Spadea’s refusal to commit to supporting the Republican nominee not only jeopardizes the party’s chances in a critical election but also disregards the will of New Jersey’s Republican voters. We urge Spadea to reconsider his stance and prioritize the interests of the state and the party over personal rivalries. The focus must remain on presenting a united front to address New Jersey’s challenges, including affordability, public safety, and education, as Ciattarelli has consistently emphasized. A divided party benefits only those who seek to perpetuate policies that many New Jerseyans oppose.
