Ron Howard Sighting: NYC

We were in Manhattan over the weekend and spotted actor turned director Ron Howard and his wife, Cheryl arm-in-arm on Saturday at Christie's auction house at Rockefeller Center.
The Howards were viewing ornate silverware and significant American art in the Chrtsies galleries. Among the paintings on exhibit (and among those which attracted us to Christies) were pieces by Jamie Wyeth, Grandma Moses, Norman Rockwell, Georgia O'Keefe and Maxfield Parrish.
All of the pieces are up for auction.
We couldn't tell if the Howards were contemplating purchases but they did seem to have a wonderful time. They were dressed very casually (jeans, etc.) and were very relaxed, laughing and joking as they left Christies and walked toward Fifth Avenue. No entoruage; no limousines. They went largely undetected.
Of course Howard's new movies, Angels and Demons, just opened Very Big.
The Howard family lives on a 35-acre estate in Connecticut. In the June 2006 issue of Vanity Fair magazine, Ron Howard was asked, "What do you consider your greatest achievement?" He replied, "Forty-eight consecutive years of steady employment in television and film, while preserving a rich family life."
Ron and Cheryl Howard will celebrate their 35th anniversary next year.
They have four children and one grandchild.
Bravo!
BTW: We did not disturb the Howards. For the most part, when in New York we do as New Yorkers do. We leave celebrities alone.
