Runyan: Let's Create Environment To Grow JOBS

A special message from Congressman Jon Runyan:

Dear Friend,

Our nation has seen glimmers of hope in recent months when it comes to our nation's economy but the reality is that there are still millions upon millions of people unemployed.  In fact, many of the unemployed have been looking for jobs for so long that they have given up hope of finding a job and have decided to take themselves out of the work force.

Small businesses are the backbone of our community, region and nation's economy.  With small businesses accounting for a disproportionally larger role in job creation, it is important we help these businesses grow and expand.  That is why House Republicans introduced a truly bipartisan bill that is aimed solely at creating an environment where small businesses can grow.

The JOBS Act takes 3 bills that have overwhelming support from both Democrats and Republicans and would combine them into one bill.  The three bills are HR 2940, the Access to Capital for Job Creators Act, HR 2930, the Entrepreneur Access to Capital Act, and HR 1070, the Small Company Capital Formation Act.  The bills would all help alleviate the regulations on how small businesses can obtain capital, including allowing businesses to advertize to obtain investors before taking a private business public.  This increased access to capital will hopefully allow small businesses to grow and hire more employees.

The package will also include HR 3606, the Reopening American Capital Markets to Emerging Growth Companies; HR 2167, the Private Company Flexibility and Growth Act; and HR 4088, the Capital Expansion Act.  These bills are intended to make the process of taking a private small business to a publically traded company easier.  Many small businesses are not able to take their business public because of burdensome regulations.  If more small businesses were able to tap into additional capital by becoming a publically traded company, the potential for job growth could also increase.

New Jerseyans and Americans have been demanding that Congress come together and act in a bipartisan manner to create jobs.  This bill would help small businesses do what they do best; create jobs and opportunities in the communities they operate.  The JOBS Act is a truly bipartisan bill that should help small businesses grow and create jobs for the thousands of unemployed in Southern New Jersey.

Sincerely,
Jon Runyan
Member of Congress
