Live Blogging The Tony Awards - Part 11

The Tony Award for Lighting Design of a Musical went to Matilda.
The same award for a Play went to Lucky Guy.
Now here's Jake Gillenhaal. Jake sound almost like a little boy. Surprising.
Okay, just as we predicted Cicely Tyson gets her first Tony award ever for the revival of The Trip To Bountiful. This great, great American actress is so inspiring. She reveals that she is the sole surviving member of her family of origin. He mother, father, sister and brother have all passed on. She wanted one more role. Just one more, she says. And she got it. And she has triumphed.
She looks magnificent. She is an American treasure. Her speech is extraordinary. Perfect!
After 30 years years she has won her Tony. THIS was the highlight of the evening -- and well worth waiting for.
Now, Best Actress in a Musical goes to Patina Miller for Pippin. This certainly makes Pippin the Big Winner of the evening.
This is followed by a number from Kinky Boots which seems destined to win the big award tonight.
