German Shepherd Dogs Compete In Philly 10/17-20

The German Shepherd Dog Club of America will host the World Trial for German Shepherd Dogs  to determine the best dog and team in the world at PPL Park from Thursday, October 17th through Sunday, October 20th.

What began as a small competition between German Shepherds from a few national clubs in central and Western Europe in Salzburg, Austria in 1975 has grown into a World Championship that attracts dogs and their handlers from every continent.  The German Shepherd Dog Club of America Inc. and the German Shepherd Dog Club of America--Working Dog Association Inc. are hosting the event.

German Shepherds, which date back to 1899 as a breed, are one of the three most iconic and popular breeds of dogs in America.  The rich history of the breed shows that they have a broad range of capabilities from wartime and law enforcement to service assistance dogs and even as actors in television and movies.

In 2013, the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA) will also be celebrating 100 years of history.

“Raising awareness about the breed and focusing on enhancing character and quality is the focus of the this year’s competition,” said Frank Fasano, President of the GSDCA.

The German Shepherd Dog Club of America continues to represent and advance the interests of pure-bred German Shepherds as well as the thousands of members of over 100 clubs throughout the United States, Alaska and Hawaii.

Owners, breeders and trainers of the German Shepherd Dog from all branches of the military, law enforcement , Search and Rescue, FEMA, Home land Defense and others are expected to  attend.
