The Philadelphia Flyers, Phillies, Sixers, Union and Wings will be represented as the professional sports teams of Philadelphia at the inaugural Sports and Education Expo being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15, 2013.
This two-day expo aims to combine the passion for sports with the importance of higher education and the commitment to health and wellness, while also serving as a platform for parents, student athletes and children to learn more about what the world of sports has to offer, as well as discussions among industry-leading professionals on a variety of topics. Topics relevant to youth athletes include sports injury prevention, nutrition, sports psychology, college planning, health and wellness, plus keynote speakers, interactive games, and celebrity appearances.
The Flyers will provide attendees the opportunity to participate in a youth hockey curriculum, including a “Hooked on Hockey” clinic, skill competitions, and lessons on key fitness information. Flyers alumni will be on-hand to meet and take photos with fans, as well as leading instruction. Great prizes will be awarded to participants. Also representing the sport of hockey will be the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, Flyers Skate Zones, USA Hockey and more.
The Phillies will also take part in the expo and will have interactive demonstrations on hitting, fielding, pitching and base running led by the Phillies Baseball Academy coaches. Attendees can learn about Phillies Youth Baseball/Softball programs including Phillies Phitness, Youth Softball Celebration and Baseball/Softball Academy. Fans will have an opportunity to sign their children up early for the Phillies 2014 Junior Phillies and Phanatic MVP Kids Clubs.
