Guadagno Boosts Business In NJBIA Address

Recognizing the importance of New Jersey’s business community to the state’s economic climate, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno today delivered the luncheon keynote for the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA) Public Policy Forum, “Looking Ahead: A Vision for a Better Business Climate.”

During her speech, Lt. Governor Guadagno challenged the business leaders in attendance to demonstrate to their out-of-state peers, supply chains and industry partners the benefits New Jersey offers – from its highly educated workforce, to its prime location and access to markets, to its nationally recognized high quality of life.

“I am drafting each of our business leaders to serve as New Jersey business ambassadors to show out-of-state businesses what you already know – that New Jersey is a great place to build and grow a business,” said Lt. Governor Guadagno.

The forum brings together representatives from government and the business community to share their opinions on the state’s economy and other key issues.  Earlier in the program, Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Harold J. Wirths received the 2014 Paul L. Troast Award for Public Service.  The NJBIA presents the Troast Award annually to a public servant who has made an outstanding contribution to the State of New Jersey and its business community.

“The Public Policy Forum is our signature event of the year and provides the opportunity for the business community to hear predictions for 2015 from our state and business leaders firsthand,” said NJBIA President Michele Siekerka.  “We are excited that the Lt. Governor was able to join us and deliver the luncheon keynote address.  She always puts New Jersey’s businesses first, crisscrossing the state every day, visiting business leaders and taking a real interest in how business drives economic growth in New Jersey.”

Founded in 1910 by a group of manufacturers who wanted to share ideas about workplace safety and have a say in government policies affecting their business, NJBIA has become the nation's largest statewide employer association.  Today, the Association’s 21,000 members represent every industry in the State, including contractors, manufacturers, retail and wholesale businesses, and service providers of every kind.  NJBIA’s members employ more than one million people in total.
