Guadagno Observes Three Kings Day

Joining the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development (PRAHD) in Perth Amboy, Acting Governor Kim Guadagno today celebrated Three Kings Day by distributing donated toys to hundreds of needy children, as well as encouraging those children to excel in their future endeavors.

“The Hispanic population is the fastest-growing and largest community in New Jersey and our Administration is committed to the great work PRAHD is doing,” said Acting Governor Guadagno. “Today we are delivering gifts.  But for tomorrow and beyond, we will help ensure that this community and the children we have here today will not only have a seat at the table, but will no doubt be at the head of the table."

This is the 40th year PRAHD has hosted this event in which local police officers perform the roles of the biblical three kings as staff and volunteers distribute toys.  In addition to its social service programs, PRAHD also welcomes the community to celebrate holidays, festivals and other cultural events.  A full list of programs and services is available on its website at: http://www.prahd.org/.

“I am honored to have Acting Governor Guadagno with us to celebrate this important religious and cultural celebration and a time-honored holiday tradition.  For the past 40 years, PRAHD has made sure that thousands of needy and deserving children have the opportunity to receive presents from the three kings.  I am thankful that the Acting Governor is here to witness this awe-inspiring tradition,” said Yvonne Lopez, Executive Director and CEO of PRAHD.
