The surf, the sand and Lucy, too
I find them all quite swell.
But there’s a place with scruffy palmettos
And gators in the lagoons.
It’s got those gracious, soaring live oaks
And endless crescent moons.
You’ll find fragrant magnolia blossoms
And rows of dazzling crepe myrtle
And don’t forget it’s cherished resident,
The precious nesting sea turtle!
You can bicycle its flat beach for miles on end
Or simply while away the hours.
You can watch the dolphins frolic
Or delight in the hues of its wildflowers.
There’s boating and fishing and endless vistas
Or parasailing high above the sea.
And you won’t find tacky carnival rides
Or games of chance that make you want to flee.
Its easy southern pace and charm
Will naturally set your mind at ease.
While savory low country cookin’
Comes with a guarantee to please.
Yes, there’s a lush island set apart
In a world of sunshine and smiles.
But please don’t tell any others about Hilton Head
Just tell them it’s too many miles!
