How Important Was Sandy In Obama Win?

Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast a week before the 2012 election.

It made landfall in New Jersey and battered the Garden State, much of New York and other parts of the northeast.

How important was it to the election outcome and Obama's victory.

Consider the following:
  • Polls show that 12% of the electorate decided who to vote for during the last week of the campaign.
  • Indeed, 9% of the voters did not decide until the last three days and they voted for the president, 51 percent to Romney's 44 percent.
  • 64% said the president's response to the hurricane was a factor in their decision.
  • 42% said it was important to their vote for president.
So, you figure it out.
