Heidi Chronicles B'way Cast Additions Announced

Producers are pleased to announce that Ali Ahn will play the role of Susan Johnston, Leighton Bryan will play the roles of Jill/Debbie/Lisa, Elise Kibler will play the roles of Becky/Clara/Denise, and Andy Truschinski will play the roles of Chris Boxer/Mark/Waiter/Ray in the first Broadway revival of the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning Wendy Wasserstein play The Heidi Chronicles. This will be the Broadway debut for Ahn and Truschinski, and, with the exception of understudy roles, this will also be the Broadway debut for Bryan and Kibler.

They join previously announced Golden Globe-winner and six-time Emmy Award-nominee Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men,” “Top of the Lake,” Speed-the-Plow), Emmy Award-nominee Jason Biggs (“Orange Is The New Black,” American Pie), Tony Award-nominee Bryce Pinkham (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), and Tracee Chimo (Lips Together, Teeth Apart, “Orange Is The New Black,” Bad Jews). There is no further casting to announce.

The Heidi Chronicles will begin rehearsals on January 19, and performances on Monday, February 23, 2015, with an official opening on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).

Tony Award-winner Pam MacKinnon (Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance, Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Clybourne Park) will direct. The creative team will include scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by Jill BC Du Boff, projection design by Peter Nigrini, and hair and make-up design by Leah J. Loukas.

The Heidi Chronicles, which traces the coming of age of Heidi Holland as she tries to find her bearings in a rapidly changing America, was first produced by Playwrights Horizons in the Fall of 1988. Subsequently, it moved to Broadway under the egress of The Shubert Organization, Suntory International Corporation and James Walsh.

It was the most acclaimed play of the season, and won the Pulitzer Prize, the Tony Award, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Drama Desk Award, the Hull-Warriner Award, and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.

He served as Chair of Penn State University's Professional Advisory Board for the Corporate Communication major at Penn State Abington and on the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Judicial Selection Commission.

He received his MA degree from Rowan University and his BA from Villanova University. He has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of Rowan's public relations program and received the E. A. "Wally" Richter Leadership Award, the highest honor from the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section. He has also been honored by numerous other local, state and national groups.

In his hometown of Camden, Cirucci taught fifth grade at the Ulysses Wiggins Elementary School named for the founder of the Camden NAACP. There he was one of the first teachers in the country to teach African-American history to inner city students. He later served as editor of a local weekly newspaper, as Assistant to the Township Manager of Cherry Hill Township and as Associate Director of Communications at the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Cirucci's passions include politics, the popular culture, books and authors, art, communication, music, theatre, movies, dining and travel.
