Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding the passing of former Republican National Committeewoman Elsie Hillman.
“Elsie Hillman was an icon of Republican politics in Pennsylvania,” Gleason said. “From an early age, Elsie demonstrated a deep commitment to improving the lives of others. She was a trailblazer not just for Republican women, but for anyone looking to make our Commonwealth and our country a better place.
“There are Republicans who’ve served at all levels of government who owe a deep debt of gratitude to Elsie Hillman. Her strength and tenacity will never be matched, and the thoughts and prayers of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania are with her family and friends at this time.”
Former Governor Tom Corbett released the following statement regarding the passing of Elsie Hillman.
“There are so many wonderful things you could say about Elsie Hillman. Elsie was truly a very special person. She was someone who dedicated her life to helping all people, regardless of gender, race, economic standing or political affiliation. Elsie was known for her generosity and her unwavering commitment to her community and our commonwealth. Elsie was a mentor to me and was someone I sought counsel and advice from throughout my career.
“I will miss her smiling face, hearty laugh and most of all her friendship. Susan and I send our thoughts and prayers to Elsie’s husband Henry, their family and the many who loved her.”
