Philly Papal Visit: Volunteers To Get Training

The World Meeting of Families - Philadelphia 2015 today announced the launch of a new interactive training experience for its 10,000 volunteers utilizing Scavify, a mobile application. In preparing for the World Meeting of Families Congress (September 22 - 25) and Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia (September 26-27), this app will prepare volunteers for myriad roles by allowing them to complete a series of challenges that will test their knowledge of key roles and responsibilities for these special events.

Working with Scavify, the World Meeting of Families -Philadelphia 2015 and its Volunteer Committee have created customized training programs for each volunteer role in the app. Programs consist of a series of interactive challenges, including photo, question/answer and QR code scan challenges that have been specifically designed to test volunteers' preparedness for varying roles, ranging from airport greeters to on-site registration support to foreign language services.

In addition to learning their specific roles through Scavify, volunteers will also complete a mix of challenges designed to help them to learn interesting facts about Pope Francis, become familiar with overall event logistics and frequently asked questions as well as share inspiring stories from their own communities.
While volunteers will be able to complete the challenges using Scavify on their own, volunteers will also be able to engage with other participants during training by using interactive features via Scavify, including a real-time leaderboard and a "Photostream," which will allow volunteers to view a stream of the photo challenges that other volunteers are completing.

"With an anticipated 10,000 thousand volunteers needing to fill so many important roles throughout the week of the Congress and Papal Visit, volunteer training presented a challenge that we needed to creatively address," said Suzanne Kinkel, Director of Volunteers for the World Meeting of Families - Philadelphia 2015. "Scavify not only allowed us to create customized training programs that all of our volunteers can participate in using their mobile devices but it also found ways to create a shared experience through its interactive features. This makes the app as fun as it is effective in training. We are grateful to our partners at Scavify as well as our Volunteer Committee, which has worked so hard to deliver such an engaging volunteer solution that truly drives excitement for September's event."

To engage the app, volunteers can download Scavify via iTunes App Store or Google Play. From there, volunteers will be prompted to create an account and then search for - and join - the program associated with their particular volunteer role. For this particular step, volunteers should search for their program by entering one of the following volunteer role identifiers into the app's search field: "Digital Diplomat," "Guest Services," "Language Services," "Operational and Logistics" or "Special Services." Specific instructions for volunteers can be found at: https://www.scavify.com/WMOF.

"The Scavify team is thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved in this truly unique and prestigious event," said Jesse Rendell, Co-Founder of Scavify. "We believe that the interactive programs we have created and customized for each of the volunteer groups for the World Meeting of Families Congress and Papal Visit showcase the versatility and effectiveness of our technology."
