Locally, In The True Spirit Of Thanksgiving!

The Norris Square Senior Community Center, a ministry of Catholic Health Care Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is hosting a special Thanksgiving today celebration for approximately 135 senior adults.

The celebration includes live music, dancing, prizes, and turkey distribution. In addition, volunteers and staff from the center are preparing a Latino-inspired Thanksgiving meal. A large contingent of senior adults benefiting from the center come from the Hispanic community. Specific efforts are made to design activities and provide meals that are aligned with their cultural experience.

Located in the Norris Square neighborhood of North Philadelphia, the center has been in operation since 1973. It offers senior adults opportunities for socialization, recreation, physical exercise, education, and nutritional support with a focus on overall health, wellness and independence. It also provides access to nutritious meals, supplemental food resources, and direct assistance in applying for various benefits.

Note: Norris Square is accredited by the NationaI Institute of Senior Centers and one of four CHCS Senior Community Centers in Philadelphia. For more information about CHCS and its programs aimed at assisting senior citizens, please visit http://catholichealthcareservices.net/senior-centers/.
