Romney: Fight Will Continue On Same-Sex Marriage

Mitt Romney made the following statement regarding the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision striking down Proposition 8 as unconstitutional:
“Today, unelected judges cast aside the will of the people of California who voted to protect traditional marriage. This decision does not end this fight, and I expect it to go to the Supreme Court. That prospect underscores the vital importance of this election and the movement to preserve our values. I believe marriage is between a man and a woman and, as president, I will protect traditional marriage and appoint judges who interpret the Constitution as it is written and not according to their own politics and prejudices.”

So you support a candidate in favor of discrimination? Awesome.

This is a matter that will wind its way through the courts. The proponents of same-sex marriage are the one who brought this to the courts. Now, it seems likely that the United States Supreme Court will rule on this. We'll have to see how it turns out.
