Live Blogging The Oscars - Part One; Red Carpet

Jennifer Lawrence looks beautiful. She really looks like a winner tonight. Her dress is already being voted the number one fan favorite.

So nice to see Michael Douglas tonight. And thankfully he's looking well. We're not sure we feel the same way about Catherine's dress.

What a clever campaign. The Oscar itself traveled all over America and people got to hold it and touch it. Great PR -- and a marvelous run up to the event itself.

Somebody in our family finds Kristin Chenoweth to be terminally annoying. It's mostly the voice, of course. But she is a certified Broadway star. Hey, Carol Channing went far on Broadway with what some people thought was a very annoying voice.

Witherspoon has been described as a "vision in blu" -- a very dark sor of electric blu, I guess you'd call it. She is simplicity itself.

Joseph Gorodn-Levitt is a rising star. He's wearing brightly colored, patterned socks -- a huge trend in men's fashion. And we suppose you can add some pizzaz to the tradition tux by wearing them. BYW: We thought Gordon-Levitt was a standout in Lincoln, one of our favorite films this year.

The Oscars haven't even started and we've already been shown clips of the year's top movies. We think we're in for a long evening.
