A Special Message To Villanovans Everywhere

From the athletic director of Villanova University:

Dear Nova Nation:

From Honolulu to Houston, and everywhere in between, you have come out in full force to support the Wildcats and their historic journey to the 2016 National Championship! I cannot thank you enough for being with us every step of the way. Your energy, passion, generosity and unwavering encouragement for Coach Jay Wright, his staff and this fantastic group of players will never be forgotten, and I consider myself very fortunate to share in this story with all of you.

As we take part in the many wonderful celebrations across our campus and the greater University community, we should be incredibly proud of the truly remarkable moments we witnessed this season:
  • 2016 NCAA National Champions
  • Jay Wright Named Naismith National Coach of the Year
  • First Consensus #1 Ranking in Program History
  • 2016 BIG EAST Regular Season Champions
  • Jay Wright’s Record-Breaking 3rd Consecutive BIG EAST Coach of the Year Honor
  • 2016 Big Five Champions
  • 173 Consecutive Sellouts at The Pavilion
  • Record-Breaking TV Ratings
Beyond the accolades and accomplishments on the court, what we should all take greater pride in is the way our coaches and team carried themselves throughout this season. Whether it is the team’s nationally recognized success in the classroom, their work in the community, or simply the way that they embodied our Augustinian ideals and expectations on campus, there is much more to be proud of beyond their success in competition.

Thank you for being part of it all and for welcoming me and my family into this wonderful community. I’ve had the opportunity to meet many of you along the way, and I look forward to creating and sharing in many more unforgettable memories in the years to come.

Until next season, I leave you with this NCAA Tournament highlight video so you can relive the excitement of your Villanova Wildcats’ run to 2016 National Championship!

Go Cats!!!
