From The President Of Villanova University . . .

April 5, 2016

Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends:

Villanova is the 2016 NCAA National Champion!

You couldn’t have scripted a more dramatic finale to last night’s NCAA Championship Game. For five seconds, the Nova Nation collectively held its breath. One incredible play later, and Villanova won the 2016 NCAA National Championship!

It’s been 31 years since our last national championship for basketball, and it was certainly worth the wait! This has been a truly incredible season for the players, Coach Wright, the 2016 Naismith Coach of the Year, and his coaching staff. I am extremely proud of how the team represented Villanova to a national audience, and I congratulate them on this remarkable accomplishment.

Thank you, Nova Nation, for your unfailing support this season! Your enthusiasm and energy played a huge part in getting the team to this point—and it just goes to show that at Villanova, we are truly STRONGER TOGETHER!

I invite you to join me, Coach Wright and the team today at Villanova Stadium to welcome the 2016 NCAA National Champions home to Villanova! Gates open at 3:30 p.m. and the team will arrive around 5 p.m. All are welcome.

There will also be a parade to celebrate the team and the National Championship on Friday, April 8, in Philadelphia. The parade will begin at 1 p.m., starting at 20th and Market Streets and ending at Dilworth Park. More details about this event will be shared in the next few days.

These truly are exciting times for Villanova, and I hope you feel enormous pride in being a Villanovan. Villanova is an academic and athletic powerhouse, and last evening the nation and the world took notice.

Congratulations again to the team, and of course, go Cats!

Sincerely,
Fr. Peter Donohue, OSA
President
Villanova University

Your support is a critical component to the
Villanova Men’s Basketball program's success.
