Following Tuesday's Election, New Jersey Republican Party Chairman Michael Lavery released the following statement: "Tuesday night was difficult for Republicans around the country, but there were many bright spots around New Jersey that we can look to for signs of a positive future for the Republican Party in New Jersey," Lavery said.
"In Legislative District 2, Chris Brown became the only Republican legislative candidate to unseat a Democrat in the entire country this year. We had impressive victories on the municipal level all around the state in Bernards, South Plainfield, East Amwell and East Greenwich. "For the first time in eight years, Democrats now have full control of the statehouse. When they begin to execute their agenda, the taxpayers of New Jersey are going to need a voice and the Republican Party is going to need to come together very quickly to be that voice. "The people of New Jersey need to know the Republicans will be there to hold Phil Murphy and the Democrat legislature accountable. We will not be steamrolled and we will do everything we can to prevent them from fanning the flames of our state's affordability crisis." |
