Join us this Sunday, August 4 at NMAJH for A Snowy Day in August: Keats Family Day. This program is free with Museum admission.

Watch animated films of Keats books including The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie, Peter's Chair, A Letter to Amy, and Apt. 3.Enjoy How to Build a Storm: The Weather Show presented by The Franklin Institute at 1:30 pm. Various arts and crafts activities will take place throughout the Museum, including book-making, hat-decorating, and puppet-making. Listen to hourly storytelling and readings from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The quote above is just an excerpt of the many texts encoded in our new special exhibition Hemmed Up: Stories through Textiles, created by acclaimed Philadelphia-based artists Keir Johnston andErnel Martinez of the Amber Art Collective for the inaugural year of the Museum's OPEN for Interpretation artist-in-residence program.

On Wednesday, August 7 at 7:00 pm, meet the artists and take a close-up look at their fabric-based installation. Gain insights from the artists firsthand and view a short film byKevin Shields about this unique endeavor.

Don't miss Grandparents' Day on Sunday, September 8. Enjoy film screenings of animated Keats and Sendak books as well as arts and crafts activities throughout the Museum. Docent-led conversations, guided tours, spotlight talks, and storytelling will be offered throughout the day. The Museum will be free for grandparents and children 12 and under.
