I went looking for reactions to the Norcross indictment -- reactions from prominent New Jersey politicos, particularly Democrats. And I found, well . . . . . almost nothing! Yes, a few far left progressives had something to say as well as a couple of would-be governors who court the party's progressive wing. But, beyond that it was mostly crickets.
Such is the power of George Norcross -- even an indicted George Norcross. And, apparently, such is the moral bankruptcy (and rampant hypocrisy) of the Democrat Party. They talk endlessly about no one being above the law, yet go mute when one of the most important Democrats in the state is indicted.
In announcing the indictment New Jersey Attorney General Max Platkin said that he was taking on a government enabled enterprise with such power that "if you don't go along" with its demands, the retaliation is so swift and so severe that "you might lose your job, might lose your business, maybe you lose your reputation." And then, he added this: "maybe government, the very government that you vote for, that you support with your tax dollars, that exists to serve you will instead be weaponized against you." And that part really jumped out at me and sounded very familiar. Government -- your own elected government, the government that's supposed to protect you -- "will be weaponized against you!"
Isn't that exactly what Democrats are doing right now -- weaponizing nearly every agency of the government and the justice system to destroy those who don't go along with them, starting with Donald J. Trump? After all, they want him shackled and behind bars and they apparently mean to accomplish it at any cost.
So brazen is the unbridled vindictiveness of today's self-appointed Democrat elites and their cohorts in the media, academia, the popular culture and even commerce that they will stop at nothing to destroy anyone who dares to challenge them.
And make no mistake about it, this is personal.
Remember, it was Biden himself who said: "Don't f--k with the Bidens." And most recently he added that to take him and the government on "you need some F-15s [fighter jets]" and not just a gun. The motive here is fear -- fear of reprisal strong enough to choke off even the mere thought of speaking out, let alone acting.
But this is no time for silence; no time for chilled speech; no time to go mute in the face of thuggery or limp in response to tyranny. Instead, now more than ever, be guided by the words of Benjamin Franklin: "Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God".
