How Your Pet Can Become A Star

Patients of Penn Vet’s Ryan Hospital have the chance to become stars of a new Penn Vet billboard campaign! As part of the “Happy Tails” contest, which runs fromOctober 7-21, pet owners are encouraged to post their pet’s photo on Facebook, along with a caption that explains their “happy tail” – a story of how Ryan Hospital helped their pet. Winners will be featured on billboards throughout Philadelphia the week of November 11, as well as on the Penn Vet website (www.vet.upenn.edu).

To enter, pet owners must “like” Penn Vet School on Facebook. They can then post a photo of their pet on the Facebook page in the Photo Contest tab, along with a caption about their pet’s experience at Ryan Hospital. Participants who share a photo and story will be automatically entered to win. Winners will be announced on October 22.

Characterized by the phrase, “We speak animal like no one else,” Penn Vet’s latest ad campaign highlights how Ryan Hospital’s vets are particularly in tune with four-legged and feathered friends, with a focus on the hospital’s Comprehensive Cancer Care and Minimally Invasive Surgery service lines. Contest winners will take the place of Cody, Sophie, and others, who currently serve as stars of the campaign [see below].

Did you read the story about those mummies that were scheduled to be put on view at the Museum of the University of Pennsylvania for its spectacular new "Secrets of the Silk Road" exhibit?

Morris Arboretum Dazzles

Over the weekend we had a chance to journey to the edge of the Philadelphia city limits (just past Chestnut Hill) to visit the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania.
At any time of the year the Morris Arboretum is a natural treasure.
But look at the beautiful, vivid colors of May!
The Morris describes itself as "an interdisciplinary center that integrates art, science and the humanities." We describe it as sheer joy.
Here, thousands of rare and lovely woody plants, including some of Philadelphia's oldest, rarest, and largest trees, are set in a romantic, 92-acre, Victorian landscape garden of winding paths, streams, flowers and special garden areas.
Beginning with founder John Morris’s interest in growing plants from around the world, unusual specimens have flourished here for well over 100 years.
Philadelphia is a city of beautiful gardens and fantastic natural attractions. When you visit the Morris Arboretum you will discover why the City of Brotherly Love is also know as Penn's Greene Country Town. Bella!
