Trump Touts Economy; Previews New Stimuli

Today, President Donald J. Trump returned to Michigan to underscore the progress made in revitalizing our economy, celebrate the resurgence of the American auto industry, and chart the path forward to deliver continued relief to American families.

President Trump heralded the economic revival after one year back in office.

  • “After less than 12 months in office, I’m back in Michigan to report to you on the strongest and fastest economic turnaround in our country’s history.” (Watch)

  • “Biden gave us a colossal stagflation catastrophe, but my Administration has rapidly and very decisively ended that. We have quickly achieved the exact opposite of stagflation — almost no inflation and super high growth.” (Watch)

  • “After real wages plummeted by $3,000 under Sleepy Joe Biden, real wages are up by $1,300 in less than one year under President Trump.” (Watch)

  • “We have gas stations in the Detroit area where you can fill up for less than $2.30 a gallon — whereas two years ago, it was $4.50.” (Watch)

  • “The stock market is now the highest in history… boosting 401(k)s and retirement accounts for millions and millions of Americans.” (Watch)

  • “The Trump Tariffs have delivered us trillions of dollars of new investment… They brought hundreds of billions of dollars pouring into the United States Treasury, helped curb inflation, and helped cut the federal budget deficit by a staggering 27%.” (Watch)

  • “Under Biden, we had the highest trade deficit ever recorded — losing more than $1 trillion every single year... We’ve slashed that gaping trade deficit by, in a short period of time, 62%.” (Watch)

  • “Just as I promised you, I’ve imposed a 25% tariff on all foreign automobiles… U.S. auto factories are now seeing more than $70 billion of new investment.” (Watch)

President Trump laid out bold new plans to ensure all Americans feel the benefits of the Trump Economy.

  • “Next week, I’m going to provide much more detail about our housing policies so that every American who wants to own a home will be able to afford one… This will include a ban on large institutional investors buying up single-family homes all over the country... I’ve also announced that the U.S. government is purchasing $200 billion dollars of mortgage bonds to bring down mortgage rates.” (Watch)

  • “I proudly called for credit card companies to cap interest rates at 10% for one year because they’re getting 28% and 30% and 30% — and it’s unfair. The rates are way too high.” (Watch)

  • “To provide further relief to hardworking Americans, we will also be confronting one of the biggest factors in driving up prices — the monstrosity known as the Unaffordable Care Act… Later this week, I’ll announce our healthcare affordability framework that will reduce premiums for millions.” (Watch)

President Trump toured the manufacturing home of Ford’s iconic F-150 truck in Dearborn.

Workers erupted in applause and showed off the plant’s booming production as company leaders confirmed the positive impact of President Trump’s agenda:
  • Ford CEO Jim Farley: “We’re adding a combustion truck, an affordable one, in Tennessee… That’s what these policies are doing for Ford. We’re going to actually expand one of our existing plants and make a different kind of truck there.”

  • Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford: “We have a great relationship with the President and his whole staff. They’ve been great to work with for us. He, personally, is incredibly responsive every time we need something or call — and we very much appreciate it. We couldn’t be more excited. We’re adding market share. We’re growing as a company. We’re adding jobs…”

President Trump addressed the Minnesota Somali Fraud Scandal.

  • “Another urgent priority for bringing down the cost of living is to stop the colossal fraud that is bleeding American taxpayers absolutely dry… Our country has been losing over half a trillion dollars to fraud every single year, but those days are over.” (Watch)

  • “I’m creating a brand-new division at the Department of Justice — a legal strike force led by a really tough, smart, new [assistant] attorney general for fraud… We intend to imprison any fraudster, politician, or public official involved in these sick plots to loot and pillage our country.” (Watch)

  • “We’re also going to revoke the citizenship of any naturalized immigrant — from Somalia or anywhere else — who is convicted of defrauding our citizens.” (Watch)

  • “We’ve frozen all children’s payments to those states… We will now require proof of attendance in order to receive federal funding for childcare... Additionally, from this moment forward, if you’re on public assistance, like almost all Somalis are... You can’t wire money out of the country back to your bank account from where you came.” (Watch)

  • “Starting February 1, we’re not making any payments to ‘sanctuary’ cities or states having ‘sanctuary’ cities because they do everything possible to protect criminals at the expense of American citizens — and it breeds fraud and crime and all of the other problems that come.” (Watch)

  • “As we liberate our country from this cultural scourge and the plague of corruption and fraud, we’ll rediscover the natural energy and native spirit that truly makes America great again.” (Watch)

Trump Touts Revival Of US Auto Industry

President Donald J. Trump took office on a promise to revitalize the American auto industry — and after just one year, he has unquestionably delivered. Today, as President Trump visits Michigan and tours the home to the assembly of Ford’s iconic F-150 pickup truck, the nation celebrates the U.S. auto industry’s robust resurgence under his leadership.

Under President Trump’s America First agenda, the American auto industry is primed for unprecedented expansion:

Automakers Are Thriving Amid Record-Breaking Sales

The past year marked the strongest year for new vehicle sales since 2019. Ford achieved its best annual sales in six years, General Motors reported soaring overall vehicle sales with its strongest SUV performance in decades, and Stellantis saw Jeep brand sales rise for the first time since 2018.

Vehicles Are More Affordable for American Families

New data indicates that prices for both new and used vehicles have decreased since President Trump took office — a trend complemented by recent declines in vehicle maintenance, repair, and insurance costs, as well as gas at its lowest average price in nearly five years.

Additionally, for the first time, Americans can deduct interest on auto loans for vehicles made-in-America — positioning the market for even greater demand.

Major Investments in Domestic Manufacturing

President Trump’s policies have catalyzed big investments from leading automakers to expand their U.S.-based production. Companies including Ford,  StellantisGeneral MotorsHondaToyota, and many others are investing billions in American facilities, creating good-paying jobs and strengthening supply chains here in America — like right here in Michigan.

Tariffs Are Driving U.S. Production — Without Inflation

Contrary to Fake News doomcasting, President Trump’s tariffs have had no impact on vehicle prices — while his Section 232 tariffs on heavy duty trucks have instead fueled a revival in domestic manufacturing, with Ford CEO Jim Farley calling it a “really big deal.”

As Bloomberg noted: “[D]espite many analysts anticipating a bump up in prices for the 2026 model year, with automakers expected to do a lot more to pass along the tariff increases, that just really hasn’t happened.”

Streamlined Regulations Are Making U.S. Production More Competitive

President Trump has reversed onerous Biden-era fuel economy standards that would have added nearly $1,000 to the cost of the average new vehicle, delivering billions in savings for consumers. The Trump Administration also eliminated the unpopular vehicle stop-start requirement, authorized the production of affordable and efficient “tiny cars,” rescinded state-level electric vehicle mandates, and implemented other reforms to eliminate hidden cost increases imposed by Democrat policies.

These moves have earned wide praise from automakers and auto dealers alike as victories for “common sense and affordability.”

Taking The Shackles Off, Unleashing The Best!

REVIEWING REGULATIONS: Earlier this week, President Donald J. Trump announced that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are reinstating the Midterm Evaluation of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) standards for the automotive industry.

The NHTSA will work with the EPA to use a data-driven process to conduct the Midterm Evaluation of the CAFE-GHG standards according to its original timetable. The Obama Administration broke its promise to automakers and rushed the Midterm Evaluation to a premature conclusion earlier this year.
Reinstating the Midterm Evaluation ensures that regulators will rely on the best available data and information, which the previous administration ignored.

By reinstating the Midterm Evaluation, the Trump Administration will examine, and if necessary, revise, the regulations on auto manufacturers and the attendant costs passed on to consumers.

Last year, the EPA estimated it would cost $200 billion to comply with CAFE-GHG standards from 2012-2025.

PARTNERING WITH CAR COMPANIES:
  • Under President Trump, automakers are bringing jobs back to America.
  • Ford announced it was canceling a plant in Mexico, while adding 700 jobs in Michigan.
  • General Motors announced it plans to invest $1 billion in the United States, creating over 1,000 new jobs.
  • Fiat Chrysler announced it was investing $1 billion to modernize two plants in the United States, creating 2,000 jobs.

CUTTING RED TAPE:
  • President Trump is building on his past success rolling back excessive regulations that burden businesses, workers, and families.
  • President Trump directed each agency to establish a Regulatory Reform Task Force to identify costly and unnecessary regulations in need of modification or repeal.
  • President Trump has required that for every new Federal regulation, two existing regulations be eliminated.
  • President Trump directed the Department of Commerce to streamline Federal permitting processes for domestic manufacturing and to reduce regulatory burdens on domestic manufacturers.
  • President Trump signed legislation, House Joint Resolution 38, to prevent the burdensome “Stream Protection Rule” from causing further harm to the coal industry.
  • President Trump ordered the review of the “Clean Water Rule: Definition of Waters of the United States,” known as the WOTUS rule, to evaluate whether it is stifling economic growth or job creation.

FOLLOWING THROUGH:
President Trump is following through on his promise to the American auto workers.
President Trump: “We’re going to make the process much more simple for auto companies, and everyone else who wants to do business in the United States.”

Romney Bus Tour To Meet With American Families

Mitt Romney will meet with America’s families and business owners in small towns in six states as part of his “Every Town Counts” five-day bus tour. The “Every Town Counts” bus tour will begin in New Hampshire on June 15 and will continue on to small towns in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan.

“For three and a half years, President Obama has paid little attention to the everyday concerns of the American people,” Mitt Romney said. “President Obama has offered no hope for the future, and he has left American families to bear the burden of his failed policies. Too many American families have experienced a lost job, faced foreclosure, or been forced to spend their kids' college savings just to make ends meet. These are not statistics – these are our fellow Americans. In America’s small towns, you don't find despair -- you find boundless optimism. We know we can make America better, and that is why I am running for president.”

Believe In America: Every Town Counts Bus Tour Outline

Friday, June 15 – New Hampshire

Saturday, June 16 – Pennsylvania

Sunday, June 17 – Ohio

Monday, June 18 – Wisconsin and Iowa

Tuesday, June 19 – Michigan

More details will be announced in the coming days.

Mitt And Ann Romney Celebrate Big Wins!

Kid Rock And Mitt Romney? Ohhh Yeah!

Mitt Romney's been using Kid Rock's Born Free as his official campaign song.
But for his big rally in Michigan last night he wanted Detroit's own Kid Rock to come and sing the song live.
Kid Rock is a salt-of-the-earth kinda guy. He's not only an exceptional talent but he's real. What you see is what you get. Rock (who's real name is Bob Ritchie) is someone who never forgets his roots. He's a very pro-America kinda guy: a strong supporter of our troops; a big-time booster of his home city and state and someone who's not shy about giving back to the community.
So before he agreed to perform at the Romney event Kid Rock wanted to meet and chat with the candidate.
Fair enough. Romney and Rock met for more than an hour. They discussed a variety of topics and each man presumably liked what he heard.
Last night Kid Rock officially joined the Romney team live, appearing with Mitt and Ann Romney to perform his song.
Here's how Romney explains it:
"He said, 'If you're elected president, will you help me help the city of Detroit?' I said I would. And then I turned to him, and I said, 'By the way, given the fact that I'm willing to do those things, will you come here and perform a concert tonight for my friends, and he said he would," said Romney. "So I'm happy to introduce a son of Detroit, a friend, a guy who makes great music, who introduces me by DVD everywhere I go - Kid Rock!"
As Kid Rock belted out the lyrics to "Born Free," Romney and his wife Ann stood and listened, tapping their feet, clapping and whistling in support.
Kid Rock is a giant musical talent whose music runs the gamut from rock to blues to country. He's a modern American success story who also has common sense and isn't afraid to defy the conventional wisdom that entertainers must all be part of the air-kissing liberal set.
Bravo!

Poll: Romney gets Big Boost From GOP Debate

The latest Rasmussen Reports poll of likely Republican Primary voters in Michigan shows Romney with 40% of the vote and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum with 34%. The poll was conducted on Thursday night, following the last scheduled debate among the GOP candidates.
This is a dramatic reversal from pre-debate polls that showed Romney faltering.
But Mitt's appears to have his mojo back.

Romney Video Campaign Targets Michigan

Michigan has been home to Mitt Romney. He remembers when the state was the pride of the nation. President Obama did all the things that liberals have wanted to do for years and still, people in Detroit are distressed. Mitt Romney will make Michigan stronger and better

Romney Gains Support Of Congressman Benishek

Mitt Romney today announced the support of Congressman Dan Benishek.

“I’m proud to have Dan’s support,” said Mitt Romney. “Though he has not been in Congress very long, Dan has made his mark by being a staunch advocate for the same conservative policies that I look to implement as president. I look forward to working with him in the months to come as I spread my message of a simpler, smaller, and smarter federal government throughout my native state of Michigan and across the country.”

“For my fellow Michiganders, this upcoming election is the most critical in generations. Our country simply cannot take four more years of President Obama’s broken promises and failed policies. Mitt Romney shares the values that made me run for office in the first place: a willingness to take on Washington, a commitment to repeal Obamacare and a promise to end Washington's runaway spending. I urge all my fellow conservatives to reject four more years of a failed presidency and join me in supporting Mitt Romney.”

Background on Congressman Dan Benishek:

Congressman Benishek was elected to the U.S. House in 2010. Congressman Benishek succeeded 18-year Congressman Bart Stupak, the deciding vote on Obamacare. Benishek previously was a general surgeon in the Dickinson County Healthcare System. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his medical degree at Wayne State University. Dr. Benishek resides in Iron County, Michigan.
