Taking The Shackles Off, Unleashing The Best!
REVIEWING REGULATIONS: Earlier this week, President Donald J. Trump announced that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are reinstating the Midterm Evaluation of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) standards for the automotive industry.
The NHTSA will work with the EPA to use a data-driven process to conduct the Midterm Evaluation of the CAFE-GHG standards according to its original timetable. The Obama Administration broke its promise to automakers and rushed the Midterm Evaluation to a premature conclusion earlier this year.
Reinstating the Midterm Evaluation ensures that regulators will rely on the best available data and information, which the previous administration ignored.
By reinstating the Midterm Evaluation, the Trump Administration will examine, and if necessary, revise, the regulations on auto manufacturers and the attendant costs passed on to consumers.
Last year, the EPA estimated it would cost $200 billion to comply with CAFE-GHG standards from 2012-2025.
PARTNERING WITH CAR COMPANIES:
- Under President Trump, automakers are bringing jobs back to America.
- Ford announced it was canceling a plant in Mexico, while adding 700 jobs in Michigan.
- General Motors announced it plans to invest $1 billion in the United States, creating over 1,000 new jobs.
- Fiat Chrysler announced it was investing $1 billion to modernize two plants in the United States, creating 2,000 jobs.
CUTTING RED TAPE:
- President Trump is building on his past success rolling back excessive regulations that burden businesses, workers, and families.
- President Trump directed each agency to establish a Regulatory Reform Task Force to identify costly and unnecessary regulations in need of modification or repeal.
- President Trump has required that for every new Federal regulation, two existing regulations be eliminated.
- President Trump directed the Department of Commerce to streamline Federal permitting processes for domestic manufacturing and to reduce regulatory burdens on domestic manufacturers.
- President Trump signed legislation, House Joint Resolution 38, to prevent the burdensome “Stream Protection Rule” from causing further harm to the coal industry.
- President Trump ordered the review of the “Clean Water Rule: Definition of Waters of the United States,” known as the WOTUS rule, to evaluate whether it is stifling economic growth or job creation.
FOLLOWING THROUGH:
President Trump is following through on his promise to the American auto workers.
President Trump: “We’re going to make the process much more simple for auto companies, and everyone else who wants to do business in the United States.”

Romney Bus Tour To Meet With American Families
Mitt Romney will meet with America’s families and business owners in small towns in six states as part of his “Every Town Counts” five-day bus tour. The “Every Town Counts” bus tour will begin in New Hampshire on June 15 and will continue on to small towns in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan.
“For three and a half years, President Obama has paid little attention to the everyday concerns of the American people,” Mitt Romney said. “President Obama has offered no hope for the future, and he has left American families to bear the burden of his failed policies. Too many American families have experienced a lost job, faced foreclosure, or been forced to spend their kids' college savings just to make ends meet. These are not statistics – these are our fellow Americans. In America’s small towns, you don't find despair -- you find boundless optimism. We know we can make America better, and that is why I am running for president.”
Believe In America: Every Town Counts Bus Tour Outline
Friday, June 15 – New Hampshire
Saturday, June 16 – Pennsylvania
Sunday, June 17 – Ohio
Monday, June 18 – Wisconsin and Iowa
Tuesday, June 19 – Michigan
More details will be announced in the coming days.

Kid Rock And Mitt Romney? Ohhh Yeah!
Mitt Romney's been using Kid Rock's Born Free as his official campaign song.
But for his big rally in Michigan last night he wanted Detroit's own Kid Rock to come and sing the song live.
Kid Rock is a salt-of-the-earth kinda guy. He's not only an exceptional talent but he's real. What you see is what you get. Rock (who's real name is Bob Ritchie) is someone who never forgets his roots. He's a very pro-America kinda guy: a strong supporter of our troops; a big-time booster of his home city and state and someone who's not shy about giving back to the community.
So before he agreed to perform at the Romney event Kid Rock wanted to meet and chat with the candidate.
Fair enough. Romney and Rock met for more than an hour. They discussed a variety of topics and each man presumably liked what he heard.
Last night Kid Rock officially joined the Romney team live, appearing with Mitt and Ann Romney to perform his song.
Here's how Romney explains it:
"He said, 'If you're elected president, will you help me help the city of Detroit?' I said I would. And then I turned to him, and I said, 'By the way, given the fact that I'm willing to do those things, will you come here and perform a concert tonight for my friends, and he said he would," said Romney. "So I'm happy to introduce a son of Detroit, a friend, a guy who makes great music, who introduces me by DVD everywhere I go - Kid Rock!"
As Kid Rock belted out the lyrics to "Born Free," Romney and his wife Ann stood and listened, tapping their feet, clapping and whistling in support.
Kid Rock is a giant musical talent whose music runs the gamut from rock to blues to country. He's a modern American success story who also has common sense and isn't afraid to defy the conventional wisdom that entertainers must all be part of the air-kissing liberal set.
Bravo!

Poll: Romney gets Big Boost From GOP Debate
The latest Rasmussen Reports poll of likely Republican Primary voters in Michigan shows Romney with 40% of the vote and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum with 34%. The poll was conducted on Thursday night, following the last scheduled debate among the GOP candidates.
This is a dramatic reversal from pre-debate polls that showed Romney faltering.
But Mitt's appears to have his mojo back.

Romney Gains Support Of Congressman Benishek
Mitt Romney today announced the support of Congressman Dan Benishek.
“I’m proud to have Dan’s support,” said Mitt Romney. “Though he has not been in Congress very long, Dan has made his mark by being a staunch advocate for the same conservative policies that I look to implement as president. I look forward to working with him in the months to come as I spread my message of a simpler, smaller, and smarter federal government throughout my native state of Michigan and across the country.”
“For my fellow Michiganders, this upcoming election is the most critical in generations. Our country simply cannot take four more years of President Obama’s broken promises and failed policies. Mitt Romney shares the values that made me run for office in the first place: a willingness to take on Washington, a commitment to repeal Obamacare and a promise to end Washington's runaway spending. I urge all my fellow conservatives to reject four more years of a failed presidency and join me in supporting Mitt Romney.”
Background on Congressman Dan Benishek:
Congressman Benishek was elected to the U.S. House in 2010. Congressman Benishek succeeded 18-year Congressman Bart Stupak, the deciding vote on Obamacare. Benishek previously was a general surgeon in the Dickinson County Healthcare System. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his medical degree at Wayne State University. Dr. Benishek resides in Iron County, Michigan.
