What makes New Jersey such a BLUE state?
Obviously, it's the overpowering Democrat "bleed" from New York and Philadelphia.
Look at the map (below) from the recent gubernatorial election. The most intensely Democrat areas are largely clustered around NYC and Philly. The further you get from those cities, the redder it gets.
But the densest areas (spilling out from the two big cities) are the bluest while the less populated areas are red -- very hard for Republicans to overcome!
