“Following the devastation caused by the recent tornadoes that ripped through the South and Midwest, so many of our brothers and sisters are mourning the loss of loved ones and struggling with immense hardship.
In the name of the clergy, religious, and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, I ask that we stand in prayerful solidarity with all those in pain as a result of natural disaster. During this holy Season of Advent as we await the birth of our Savior, let us ask God to shed light and hope upon all those suffering in the wake of destroyed life and property. Let us also express deep gratitude for the work of first responders and relief personnel who are working to provide for those who have been impacted.
May our witness bring solace to those in desperate need. I strongly encourage all people of good will to help our brothers and sisters in their recovery by supporting the work of Catholic Charities USA at https://www.catholiccharities.us/campaign/ccusa-disaster-relief/c353051.”
Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D.
Archbishop of Philadelphia
