Cherry Trees Pravail: Final Shade Trees Removed!

Here's a special message from Cherry Hill NJ's indomitable Joe Zanghi, the man behind the beautification of Chapel Avenue and the planting of the hundreds of cherry trees that grace the avenue with clustered blossoms each spring:

The remaining seventeen (17) large shade trees still standing among the rows of hundreds of cherry trees on Chapel Avenue are in the process of being removed from Cherry Hill's cherry tree lined avenue. This will end a forty (40) year quest to remove all shade trees on Chapel Avenue in order to convert it to be a two mile avenue of all cherry trees. This major completion event is occurring on the 40th Anniversary of the first cherry tree planting and the first Cherry Blossom Parade that happened in Cherry Hill in 1973.

Thanks to Mayor Cahn of Cherry Hill -- Cherry Hill's new Mayor --- Chapel Avenue will finally become a two-mile avenue of continuous rows of cherry trees --- extending from from Haddonfield Road to Kings Highway in Cherry Hill. The annual arrival of millions cherry blossoms will call on the townspeople to come together to celebrate all that is good and meaningful in the Township of Cherry Hill.

On April 13th, 2013 -- Cherry Hill's firefighters will be planting cherry trees to replace the seventeen (17) shade trees that were removed. On the same day -- the American Legion Post 372 war veterans will be placing American flags and yellow ribbons onto the hundreds of cherry trees that are lined up on Chapel Avenue in remembrance of the victims of 9-11 and for honoring our men and women in the military.

This 40th Anniversary event in Cherry Hill will mark the end of a long journey for me! The future of this avenue will be placed into the hands of Cherry Hill's firefighters, Cherry Hill's war veterans and the Township of Cherry Hill. It will be up to them and the community of Cherry Hill to decide the future fate of the avenue of cherry trees.

Giant Philly Pillow Fight This Saturday At 3 PM!

Hey Philly!

It's spring. And you know what that means -- Pillow Fight! Yep, it's time for International Pillow Fight Day in the Cradle of Liberty.

The pillow fight is Saturday, April 6th! Come one, come all with your pillows and friends to make sweet cushiony war! All ages are welcomed, though parents should use discretion when the fury is on.

Location is Washington Square Park at 8th & Walnut. Bring soft, featherless pillows and clean pillow cases. Come in costume to show off your special bravado. Up to 200 people in the past; now it's time to break that record!

GetOutPhilly has also coordinated with P.A.W.S. this year to donate unwanted pillows to the shelter for their animals, so please feel free to leave your pillows with the fight organizers. Please let them know if you or someone you know has a truck that can be can use to transport pillows. Otherwise, it'll be done by foot.

Bring: A pillow (no bean bags, heavy couch cushions, or memory foam), friends, family, randoms, optional costume.
Note: Please do not hit people without pillows.

About Dan Cirucci

He's been cited by the late Rush Limbaugh, quoted in the New York Times, featured at Real Clear Politics and Lucianne.com and interviewed across all media.

He's Dan Cirucci, the founder and editor-in chief of the Dan Cirucci Blog, a Save Jersey blog columnist, frequent guest on the Matt Rooney radio show and one of the most widely honored public relations professionals in his field. He's also been a public relations consultant to numerous organizations and individuals and hosted The Advocates on RVN-TV.

Inducted into the Philadelphia Public Relations Hall of Fame, for many years he served as a Lecturer in Corporate Communication at Penn State University. A former President of the Philadelphia Public Relations Association (PPRA) he has lectured at Rowan University, Temple University, The College of New Jersey and Arcadia University. He has conducted workshops on public relations for thousands of participants throughout the nation and has taught countless others the art of public speaking. He has also advised numerous lawyers, judges, public officials and political candidates.

Cirucci is a prolific writer and his op-ed pieces have appeared in the Philadelphia Daily News, Philadelphia Inquirer, Courier-Post, Broad and Liberty and other print and online platforms.

A native of Camden NJ, Cirucci is a former President of the Philadelphia chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. Cirucci served as Associate Executive Director of the Philadelphia Bar Association for nearly 30 years. He served as Chair of Penn State University's Professional Advisory Board for the Corporate Communication major at Penn State Abington and on the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Judicial Selection Commission.

He received his MA degree from Rowan University and his BA from Villanova University. He has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of Rowan's public relations program and received the E. A. "Wally" Richter Leadership Award, the highest honor from the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section. He has also been honored by numerous other local, state and national groups.

In his hometown of Camden, Cirucci taught fifth grade at the Ulysses Wiggins Elementary School named for the founder of the Camden NAACP. There he was one of the first teachers in the country to teach African-American history to inner city students. He later served as editor of a local weekly newspaper, as Assistant to the Township Manager of Cherry Hill Township and as Associate Director of Communications at the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Cirucci's passions include all things Italian, politics, the popular culture, books and authors, art, communication, music, theatre, movies, dining and travel.

He and his wife Carole have two grown children and seven grandchildren.
