Today's Women Could Learn From THIS Woman!

It's hard to believe that many people today don't even know who Joan Crawford was. Indeed, the mention of her name is likely to pose a somewhat quizzical look. Those who don't remember Joan Crawford or haven't bothered to find out about her can only be considered deprived.

Thank goodness, I remember her and I miss her

A movie icon and Academy Award winner, Joan Crawford was part of  Hollywood's glittering Golden Age. For decades her name above the title of a movie guaranteed box office success. In her many inimitable roles she depicted strong, determined, self-made, accomplished women. 

Joan Crawford was never unaware of her responsibility as a star and she conducted herself accordingly. Though she never hesitated to speak her mind, she likely would have been horrified at the "stars" of today, the era of political correctness and the "me-too." movement.

That's because this great star didn't so much lecture about a way of life as she lived it.  

Joan Crawford went toe-to-toe with Hollywood's supposed he-men, stared down the most belligerent bullies, captivated guys half her age, negotiated her own deals with movie moguls and even sent fear into the hearts of the men in Pepsi-Cola's boardroom when she took her late husband's position at the board table. She was part of a generation of female stars who lived life their way, rarely seeking help from others -- men or women. And when it came to relations with the opposite sex, Joan Crawford made her own rules and set her own boundaries. She was impassioned, savvy, street-smart and every inch a woman.

Some of the others who exemplified the Crawford ethos were Barbara Stanwyck, Bette Davis, Marlene Dietrich, Olivia de Havilland and, of course, Katherine Hepburn. These were women who could often banish an unwanted advance with little more than a steadfast glare. Which is to say, one did not trifle with these women. 

Doubtless, today's women could learn a lot from them -- if they cared (or dared) to find out.

MAJORITY Of Voters Want Biden Resignation!

The U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was so badly handled that President Joe Biden should resign because of it, according to a majority of voters. However, most don’t think Vice President Kamala Harris is qualified to replace Biden if he leaves office.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 52% of likely U.S. voters believe Biden should resign because of the way the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was handled. Thirty-nine percent (39%) disagree, and nine percent (9%) are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Unliver Must Override Hateful Ben & Jerry!

Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:
ZOA attorneys Susan Tuchman, Esq. and Elizabeth Berney, Esq. today sent a demand letter to the Board of Directors of Ben & Jerry’s parent company, Unilever PLC, on behalf of Unilever shareholders Dr. Paul Tartell, Richard Allen and other potential Unilever shareholders.  The letter demands that Unilever override Ben & Jerry’s antisemitic, discriminatory decision to boycott Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem – which Ben & Jerry’s falsely describes as “Occupied Palestinian Territory.”  A copy of the demand letter is available here.    
The letter explains that Unilever has the power and obligation to override Ben & Jerry’s antisemitic, discriminatory boycott decision.  When Unilever acquired Ben & Jerry’s in 2000, Ben & Jerry’s agreed that its board members and employees would abide by the Unilever Code of Business Conduct – which is mandatory on all Unilever entities.  Ben & Jerry’s boycott decision violates numerous Unilever business code requirements, including the requirements to respect relationships, obey applicable laws, not discriminate, and engage in responsible, truthful, accurate marketing.  
The letter also refutes Unilever’s claim that it must respect and defer to Ben & Jerry’s “social mission.”  The Unilever-Ben & Jerry’s 2000 agreements contain a limited, inapplicable definition of “social mission” and do not make Ben & Jerry’s solely responsible for that mission.  Discriminating against Jews and the Jewish state is not part of that social mission.  
In addition, the demand letter notes that Ben & Jerry’s is effectively boycotting the entire state of Israel.  Israeli law forbids boycotts of Israeli citizens, Jewish or Arab, in all territories controlled by Israel.  Complying with Ben & Jerry’s discriminatory requirements would force Ben & Jerry’s current Israeli licensee, or any future licensee, to violate Israeli law, which they cannot do.  Thus Ben & Jerry’s is effectively preventing any law-abiding franchisee from operating in Israel.
The demand letter also details the enormous harm that failing to override Ben & Jerry’s discriminatory boycott is causing to Unilever, including subjecting Unilever to multiple pending U.S. state actions against Unilever, customer losses, kosher certification losses, and franchisee actions.

"Tragic, Devastating and Immense" Hardship . . .

“Last week, Hurricane Ida ravaged Louisiana and the Gulf Coast with great loss of life and property. Last night, the Philadelphia region was overwhelmed by its remnants. This morning we awoke to historic flooding not seen in this area for over 150 years. 

Many neighborhoods in the City of Philadelphia and our suburban counties have been devastated. Tragically, lives have been lost to this natural disaster. The damage to residential and business property is only now being realized and will be immense in the final tally. At a time when so much hardship has already been created by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are faced with new and difficult challenges. 

In the name of the bishops, priests, deacons, and religious of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, I express deep gratitude to our law enforcement, fire personnel, EMTs, and other first responders who have worked around the clock at great risk to rescue those who were trapped by flooding. I am also grateful to all those laboring to restore and maintain utilities and road networks for our benefit. 

I urge everyone to heed safety warnings being issued by their local authorities. While the flood waters may be receding, the swift currents and debris pose serious danger. Soon, the process of cleaning up and rebuilding will begin. We are a people of hope and we will prevail by trusting in God and caring for one another.  

Please join me in praying for everyone impacted by Hurricane Ida wherever it wreaked havoc. May God give them peace of heart in the face of uncertainty and wrap His mantle of protection around all those placing themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe.”

PLUNGE: Biden's Poll Numbers Now Even WORSE!

Joe Biden's poll numbers have been in a free fall.

And there seems to be no end to his precipitous slide! No wonder Biden was shouting and blaming others in his most recent remarks to Americans about the Afghanistan debacle. But Biden's finger-pointing, combative defensiveness, looking at his watch and lecturing the families of our fallen heroes this past week only seem to have made matters worse and turned the public further against him and his regime. 

Look at this: The Rasmussen Reports daily presidential tracking poll for today (Wednesday) shows that 42% of likely U.S. voters approve of Joe Biden’s job performance while a whopping 56% disapprove.

But there's more: the latest figures include only 24% (not even one in four) who strongly approve of the job Biden is doing and 47% (almost a majority) who strongly disapprove. This gives ornery Joe a presidential approval index rating of minus 23. In other words, he's 23 points under water!

Does clueless Joe even have any idea how bad things are for him? It's anybody's guess, we suppose.

Call NJ Legislators Back; Halt Tax Hike!

The Republican members of the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly are taking action to force Governor Phil Murphy to convene a special session of the Legislature to adopt legislative solutions to prevent a payroll tax increase on employers, repay debt, and restore stability to the state’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) Fund.

Senate and Assembly Republicans have circulated a petition to legislative Democrats that would constitutionally require the governor to call a special session if signed by a majority of the members of each house of the Legislature.

“Governor Murphy wants to raise taxes on small businesses and nonprofits that are struggling to survive the economic impact of the pandemic,” said Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean. “We’re calling on our Democrat colleagues who have witnessed the struggles of Main Street employers and listened to the desperate pleas of their constituents begging for help with unemployment to join us in petitioning the governor to call a special session of the Legislature. There is no reason for any Democrat in the Legislature to stand by and watch as Governor Murphy inflicts unnecessary harm upon their constituents and other New Jerseyans. By joining us in signing the petition, they can make this a bipartisan call to action.”

“The Murphy administration seems content on imposing the most expensive, irresponsible, and destructive solutions possible to fix our UI Fund,” said Senate Republican Budget Officer Steven Oroho. “It doesn’t have to be that way, we don’t have to put more employers and jobs at risk when reasonable alternatives are waiting for the Legislature’s consideration. Our petition provides Democrats opposed to the payroll tax increase an opportunity to help our businesses and the residents they employ. If they share our concerns, they should take action by signing the petition and working to get other Democrats to sign as well.”

Since March, Republicans have been calling for Governor Murphy to stabilize New Jersey’s UI Fund with a portion of the billions in federal pandemic relief funds that have been delivered to New Jersey, a solution since employed by many other states.

Instead, Governor Murphy has borrowed hundreds of millions of dollars from the federal government and will impose an unnecessary payroll tax increase on employers in October as his solutions to maintain the solvency of the UI Fund.

Interest on approximately $160 million of UI Fund debt will begin accruing on September 6 at a rate of approximately 2.3%. The Murphy administration has projected borrowing will grow to $1 billion by the end of the fiscal year under the governor’s current approach to managing the Fund, leading to tens of millions of dollars of interest payments at the expense of New Jersey taxpayers.

“We have billions of federal aid that could be used to avoid massive tax increases on businesses still trying to survive the pandemic,” said Assembly Republican Budget Officer Hal Wirths. “It would be unconscionable for Democrats in the Senate and Assembly to let Governor Murphy get away with yet another tax increase on businesses  when the state has the funds to avoid it.”

The petition to call a special session was drafted pursuant to Article IV, Section I, paragraph 4 of the New Jersey Constitution, which states, in part, “Special sessions of the Legislature shall be called by the Governor upon petition of a majority of all the members of each house…”

All 14 Republican members of the Senate and 28 Republican members of the General Assembly have signed the petition.

It would only take the signatures of seven Democrats in the Senate and 13 in the General Assembly to provide the majority needed in each house to force Governor Murphy to call a special session.

Any member of the New Jersey Legislature who wishes to sign the petition may submit their electronic signature file to the executive directors of the Senate Republican Office and/or the Assembly Republican Office.
