Larry Hagman (JR Ewing in the legendary TV series Dallas) has died in Dallas at age 81.
Hagman was a proud, native Texan and the son of Mary Martin, one of the greatest Broadway musical stars ever. Hagman cut his teeth as an actor in the TV series I Dream of Jeannie but it was Dallas that gave him the opportunity to become one of the greatest villains ever -- a role most actors can only dream of.
Hagman led a full, rich life and he has left us with an acting legacy that will entertain us for decades to come.

NJ Storm Damage Estimate Tops $29 Billion!

In response to the unprecedented and widespread damage caused by Hurricane Sandy to personal property, businesses, transportation and utilities infrastructure, as well as New Jersey’s $38 billion tourism industry, the Christie Administration has completed a preliminary cost analysis of those damages, which puts the total cost at approximately $29.4 billion. The estimate will be further refined in the days and weeks ahead.

“This preliminary number is based on the best available data, field observations and geographical mapping, and supported by expert advice from my Cabinet commissioners and an outside consulting company,” said Governor Christie. “In a short period of time, we put together a comprehensive and responsible estimate, which may increase in the weeks ahead, and I stand ready to work with our Congressional delegation and the Obama Administration to get the funding support New Jersey expects and deserves in the aftermath of this catastrophe.

“We will continue to provide immediate relief for our citizens who were struck hard by Sandy,” the Governor continued. “But be assured, I will spare no effort and waste no time to rebuild and restore our tourism industry, our transportation and utilities infrastructure and the lives of our citizens for the long term.”

The preliminary cost estimate is inclusive of aid received to date and anticipated from federal sources including FEMA and the Small Business Administration. The estimate will likely be refined further to consider and include the long-term impact on the next tourism season, shifts in population, impact on real estate values and other factors.

Romney VS Obama: Some Surprising Vote Numbers

Kimberley Strassel at the Wall Street Journal has dug up some surprising numbers in the vote totals from the November 6 presidential election and her conclusions are must readings for Republicans who aim to clear a path to victory in the future. Here's an excerpt.

Mr. Romney beat Mr. McCain's numbers in every single battleground, save Ohio. In some cases, his improvement was significant. In Virginia, 65,000 more votes than in 2008. In Florida, 117,000 more votes. In Colorado, 52,000. In Wisconsin, 146,000. Moreover, in key states like Florida, North Carolina, Colorado and Virginia, Mr. Romney turned out even more voters than George W. Bush did in his successful re-election in 2004.
By contrast, Mr. Obama's turnout was down from 2008 in nearly every battleground. He lost 54,000 votes in Virginia, 46,000 votes in Florida, 50,000 votes in Colorado, 63,000 votes in Wisconsin. Ditto Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio. The only state where Mr. Obama increased his votes (by 36,000) was North Carolina, and he was still beaten by a Romney campaign that raised its own turnout by a whopping 147,000.

Rubio Soars To Win As Your Choice For 2016

Marco Rubio has soared to victory as the undisputed choice of Dan Cirucci Blog visitors for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
We opened the balloting in our poll just after the November 6 election and our unscientific sample shows that our readers are ready for Rubio. In fact, it wasn't even close.
Rubio was the clear winner with 38% of the vote followed by Palin with 15%, then Christie with 7%, Jeb Bush at 6%, Ron Paul at 5% and Condoleezza Rice and Paul Ryan at 4% each.
All of the other potential candidates listed received 3% or less.
It says something about Rubio's broad appeal that he was able to swamp all other potential candidates. He darted out to a lead at the beginning of the poll and kept that lead the whole way through.
And you'll also not that Democrats and liberals have already started to disparage Rubio and try to trick him into making fatal errors. But this guy just seems to be a natural -- loaded with smarts, political acumen, sensitivity, an endearing personality and a high likability factor.
Be sure of this: He will need all of these and more to fend off other GOP challengers and the murderous liberal media -- and we have a l-o-n-g way to go to 2016.
