NJGOP Wraps Up Busy Week, More To Come . . .

Here's a wrap-up of recent news from the New Jersey State Republican Committee: 

Today we're recapping a few announcements and events from this week including Governor Christie's upcoming trip to Canada as well as the Lieutenant Governor's address at the New Jersey State League of Municipalities' 99th Annual Conference luncheon in Atlantic City. Additionally, as the Governor's chairmanship of the Republican Governor's Association came to an end this week, we're also featuring highlights of the organization's successful year under Governor Christie's leadership that the Governor and his fellow Republicans discussed over the past few days at the RGA's Annual Conference. We're excited to also share with you a profile out this week on our Monmouth GOP Chairman Shaun Golden and his successful grassroots efforts this election cycle. GOV. CHRISTIE ANNOUNCES TRADE & CULTURAL MISSION TRIP TO CANADA –

The week began with news on Monday that Governor Christie will travel to Canada in December for a two-day trade and cultural mission trip. On December 4^th and 5^th, the Governor will visit Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa with a traveling delegation that includes New Jersey business leaders to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, members of his ministry, and energy officials. GOV. CHRISTIE BRINGS RGA CHAIRMANSHIP TO AN END IN FLORIDA – 

Earlier this week, Governor Christie was at the Republican Governor’s Association Annual Conference where his tenure as Chairman of the RGA came to an end following an incredibly successful election year for the organization. Thanks to Governor Christie’s leadership and hard work, 31 states will now be lead by Republican Governors as we defended incumbents and picked up new seats across the country, even in traditionally blue states like Maryland, Illinois, and Massachusetts. At this week’s conference, Governor Christie joined fellow Republicans to reflect on this year’s impressive accomplishments while also looking to continue building on our success in the future.

LT. GOV. GUADAGNO TALKS JOBS IN SPEECH AT NJLM’S 99^TH ANNUAL LUNCHEON –

The New Jersey State League of Municipalities kicked off its three-day conference in Atlantic City this week – bringing together state leaders, municipal officials, and exhibitors together for the largest municipal conference and trade show in the United States. On Thursday, Acting Governor Kim Guadagno joined the NJLM at its 99^th Annual Conference luncheon, “Partnerships for Prosperity,” where she spoke on building a business-friendly environment that attracts employers and creates jobs here in New Jersey. The Acting Governor underscored the important role local leaders have not only in working together to find solutions,  but also in forging partnerships with businesses and corporate leaders to implement solutions for growth and job creation. CHRISTIE ADMINISTRATION BEGINS 4TH ANNUAL “SEASON OF SERVICE”

Starting today, the Christie Administration will kick off the fourth annual “Season of Service” during which administration officials will volunteer their time and highlight opportunities across the state to serve New Jersey’s most vulnerable residents. A number of community service events will be taking place next week: On Tuesday, November 25^th Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno will be serving a luncheon meal at Oasis in Paterson at 12:00PM with First Lady Mary Pat Christie visiting the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris Plains later in the afternoon at 2:30PM. And on Wednesday, November 26^th Governor Christie will head to Newark to serve a luncheon meal with Feed the Hungry at St. John’s  at 11:15AM.

Kyrillos Confident On Sports Betting OK

New Jersey State Senator Joe Kyrillos (R-Monmouth), a prime sponsor of New Jersey’s recently enacted law repealing prohibitions on sports wagering at racetracks and casinos, stated the following after a federal court’s ruling to prevent Monmouth Park from accepting sports wagers:

“This was another unacceptable court ruling to the direct detriment of New Jersey residents, their quality of life, the state’s economy and the creation and retention of jobs at Monmouth Park and in Atlantic City. I fully expect we will prevail in our continued fight for New Jerseyans, and that the repeals we enacted will ultimately stand.”

BOMBSHELL: Hagel Fired As Purge Begins!

And so it seems the heads will begin to roll.

The post-Democrat-debacle bloodletting has begun.

And, interestingly enough it starts with (You're not surprised, are you?) the only Republican in President Obama's cabinet.

Yes, defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is stepping down under pressure amidst struggles within the national security team amid an onslaught of global crises.
The New York Times is reporting that the president "made the decision to ask his defense secretary — the sole Republican on his national security team — to step down last Friday after a series of meetings over the past two weeks."

We always said Hagel was a bad choice.

He was ill-suited to the job.

But, we wonder: Will any Democrats be fired? Will they?

And what about Valerie Jarrett? Will she ever get the boot? Don't count on it.

Though, we do wonder if John Kerry will be the next one forced out. Hmmmm?

The Democrat Party's 'Hidden' Mold Infestation

So now the moldy, not-so-little secret is out.
Surely you must know what I'm talking about.
Well, maybe not. Because this was a quite well-kept secret for longer than it deserved to be. So, maybe you don't know after all and maybe I'll just have to come out and say it.
Here goes: The Democrats are old, cranky and worn-out.
And, here's the worst part: Their ideas are as old as they are. They not only lack a young, vital bench but they also lack fresh approaches that can break through the failed liberal policies of the 1960s.
Recently re-elected Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid and recently re-elected House Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi are both 74. Not 74 combined but 74 as 74 + 74 = 148! That's lots of years!
Vice-President Joe (aka "Unlce Joe") Biden is 72.
Pelosi's top assistant in the House is Steny Hoyer. He's 75.
Are you following me? Ok now, stay with me. We've still got a ways to go.
Who was the Democrats' top vote-getter on November 4? Yeah, I know that they didn't have many winners at all but would you believe me if I told you it was a 76-year-old who ran for president in 1976? That's would be California Governor Jerry Brown who was first elected to office 44 years ago. And now Jerry Brown is one of the Democrat Party's potential 2016 president aspirants, as is Biden. Their combined age is also 148, which seems to be a magic number for the Democrats this year.
Then there's the redoubtable Hillary Clinton - the Big Kahuna, darling of aging baby boomers, newly-crowned grandma and leading candidate for the 2016 presidential nomination. If elected president, she would be pushing 70 when she takes office.
Now, look at some of the fresh, young Republican faces currently gaining national attention: Marco Rubio, 43; Rand Paul, 51; Ted Cruz, 43; Chris Christie, 52; Bobby Jindal, 43; Scott Walker, 47; Paul Ryan, 44; Joni Ernst, 44; Susana Martinez, 55; Thom Tillis, 54; Cory Gardner, 40; Ted Cruz, 43. I could go on. . . .
And, yes I know that the congressional GOP leadership consists of Mitch McConnell (72) and John Boehner (65) but just beneath them in the top posts are a few forty-somethings ready to take on the reigns of leadership. In fact, the House and Senate are now full of bright, new, young GOP members.
But it's not just the age factor.
It's the ideas. The Democrat Party is full of old people with old ideas - ideas like nationalized medicine, affirmative action, business-busting rules and regulations, higher taxes and bigger government. The Democrat Party remains tied to old labor, old ideologues and old intrusions into every aspect of our lives. Indeed, even liberalism's tie to old academia (where political correctness is more stringently enforced than ever) is laughable in the face of a global information age that is revolutionizing education.
The new people, the new ideas and the new solutions are in the Republican Party and the November election proved this.
The Republican Party now comfortably controls not only the House and the Senate but also 32 of the nations 50 governor's seats including key states such as Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida. The party also has a firm grip on most state legislatures.
Yes, America -- there's mold in the basement along with Granny Hill, Uncle Joe, cranky cousin Harry and scary aunt Nancy. It's called the Democrat Party.

Noonan: No Vindication For A Divisive Presidency

Peggy Noonan writing in the Wall Street Journal:

Historical vindication happens. The Obama White House assumes it will happen to them. Thus they can do pretty much what they want.

What they forget is that facts largely decide what history thinks—outcomes, what happened, what it means. What they also forget, or perhaps never knew, is that the great ones are always constructive. They don’t divide and tear down. They build, gather in, create, bend, meld, and in so doing move things forward.
That’s not this crowd.
This White House seems driven—does it understand this?—by a kind of political nihilism. They agitate, aggravate, fray and separate. . . . .

The president’s executive action on immigration is an act of willful nihilism that he himself had argued against in the past. It is a sharp stick in the eye of the new congressional majority. It is at odds with—it defies—the meaning and message of the last election, and therefore is destructive to the reputation of democracy itself. It is huge in its impact but has only a sole cause, the president’s lone will. It damages the standing of our tottery political institutions rather than strengthening them, which is what they desperately need, and sets a template for future executive abuse. It will surely encourage increased illegal immigration and thus further erode the position of the American working class.

NO, Obama's Actions NOT Like Reagan, Bush

Can we get something straight, Save Jerseyans?

Ronald Reagan did NOT do in 1987 what Barack Obama did on Thursday night. That’s just not true, and it will never be true no matter how many times the Democrats and the media (including this host, misstating history during a joint appearance featuring New Jersey’s own Bill Pascrell from a Friday CNBC appearance) repeat the lie:

Rep. Mulvaney nailed it. Rep. Pascrell noted the big different between then and now, too, but glosses over it.

Others are straight up lying. “In fact, it was the sweeping action of President Reagan and George H.W. Bush that deferred the deportations of up to 1.5 million undocumented spouses and children — 40 percent of America’s undocumented population — at the time,” U.S. Senator and renowned Caribbean tourist Bob Menendez said in the aftermath of POTUS’s announcement. “And now President Obama is using his legal executive authority, as they did, to grant deportation relief to millions of families who have been living in fear and in the shadows.”

Wrong. Misleading. And more than a little obnoxious.

Even FactCheck.org, operated by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, is calling out Obama and his crew for pretending there’s no difference between then and now:

“The actions taken by Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush — examples often cited by White House officials — were attempts to address ambiguities in an immigration law that was passed by Congress. Obama’s executive actions are different. They are a response to congressional failure to pass a law, and they affect a far greater number of immigrants currently living in the country illegally.”

I take issue with the use of the word “failure” since passing and adopting legislation for the sake of passing and adopting legislation isn’t the designed purpose of our checks-and-balances system. It’s also historically inaccurate; consider the 300+ bills that died on Harry Reid’s desk over past three years, passed by the GOP-controlled U.S. House, that never got a hearing in the Democrat Senate.

Did the Republican Party fail to completely surrender to a Democrat President and Senate Majority Leader who refused to negotiate with them in bad faith? You bet! And thank God for it. But that’s all a matter of ideological perspective, right?

Even still, UPenn is hardly a conservative think tank and they get the difference between enforcing legislation and creating law. Fox News’s Gregg Jarrett was even more specific:

“In past decisions, the U.S. Supreme Court has cautioned the executive branch that its prosecutorial discretion, while broad, is not “unfettered.” It is subject to restrictions. The doctrine may not be used to adopt a sweeping policy of non-enforcement of the law. It applies only to decisions not to prosecute or expelspecific individuals or smallgroups of people, typically for exigent reasons like war, civil unrest or political persecution.

By contrast, President Obama is bestowing a wholesale, blanket amnesty for an entire class of nearly 5 million people. He is doing so not for the reasons allowed by law, but for purposes that appear to be purely political. This is a flagrant abuse of prosecutorial discretion. His expansive action exceeds his authority in ways that none of his predecessors ever envisioned. And it is a radical departure from any of the executive orders issued by previous presidents.

It is true that President Ronald Reagan utilized executive action in 1987 to grant a limited deportation reprieve to certain spouses and young children of immigrants. But his order was a logical and direct extension of, not a departure from, an existing amnesty law Congress had already passed. His exemption and a subsequent extension by his successor, President George H. W. Bush, were later incorporated into a new law passed by Congress. The point is instructive. The actions by Reagan and Bush are not a supporting precedent for Mr. Obama, but an important limiting principle of presidential authority.

However, President Obama has commandeered this elastic doctrine of prosecutorial discretion and stretched or manipulated it beyond all recognition and reason. It has become his political Gumby toy with which he exerts his will whenever he fails to get his way with Congress. He contorts the word “discretion” to adopt a capacious policy — his own policy — to ban full enforcement of a duly enacted immigration statute. He treats the doctrine as a magical incantation shielding his arbitrariness.”

I don’t care where you come down on the substance of the amnesty issue, folks. That’s a debate for another day. What you CANNOT debate is the objective truth of the awful, undemocratic and yes, Rep. Pascrell, unprecedented character of Barack Obama’s executive amnesty power play.

Cosby Cries On Stage; Dismisses 'Innuendos'

Bill Cosby "sobbed" and "cried" on stage in Florida last night and he also got down on his knees in front of the audience. But it wasn't about those rape allegations. No, it was all part of his incredible story-telling ability which he has raised to a fine (and very lucrative) art. It was all part of his performance, which attracted a large crowd.

Before the show, Cosby said this about the allegations:

"I know people are tired of me not saying anything, but a guy doesn't have to answer to innuendos. People should fact check. People shouldn't have to go through that and shouldn't answer to innuendos."
