Yeah, We've Been To Greenland. It's Beautiful!

Well, c'mon!
No one is really suggesting that Greenland should be our 51st state, right? But, wait -- perhaps we shouldn't rule anything out. We suppose the residents of Qaquotoq, Greenland (pictured above, during our visit in 2019) would want to have some say in any of this. And we would expect that if and when any of this becomes negotiable.
Some chuckled at President Trump's initial speculation (originally floated six years ago)  that the US might want to purchase Greenland, something that he reportedly called basically "a major real estate deal." Yes, Greenland is a territory of Denmark and Denmark says it has no intention of selling it -- even though Denmark subsidizes it to the tune of an estimated $165 million a year.
But pretty much everything's "not for sale" -- until it is.
Greenland is vital to our national security interests and it is rich in minerals and other natural resources. That much we know.
And, having been to Greenland, we also can tell you this: Greenlanders would like you to consider visiting this exquisite, somewhat gritty, enchanting, untamed territory near the Arctic Circle -- especially during the warmer and sunnier months from May through September.
Even when the temperature is lower, the sun's rays are more direct here, so it feels warmer.
We had a beautiful time walking through Greenland's inhabitable fishing village and soaking up the warmth of the sun, the bluest of skies, the colorful houses and the crystal clear water. And we only needed light outer jackets.
Greenland was surely a highlight of our unforgettable North Atlantic ocean voyage. And, who knows? Someday, for US citizens visiting Greenland might be much like visiting Puerto Rico -- just a bit chillier.
