Originally from Houston, Texas, Rep. Dan Crenshaw is a proud 6th generation Texan. His father’s career in the Texas oil and gas industry moved his family all over the world, including Ecuador and Colombia. As a result, Dan is fluent in Spanish. From an early age, Dan knew that he wanted to serve his country with the most elite fighting force in history: the U.S. Navy SEALs. 

He graduated from Tufts University in 2006, where he earned his Naval officer commission through Navy ROTC. Following graduation, he immediately reported to SEAL training in Coronado, CA, where he met his future wife, Tara. After graduating SEAL training, Dan deployed to Fallujah, Iraq to join SEAL Team Three, his first of five deployments overseas.

On Dan’s third deployment in 2012, his life changed forever. After six months of combat operations, he was hit by an IED blast during a mission in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was evacuated and awoke from his medically induced coma learning that his right eye had been destroyed in the blast and his left eye was badly damaged. Dan was completely blind and the doctors did not believe he would ever see again. Tara stood by him every day and night, keeping faith and praying he would see again. After several difficult surgeries and months of fighting a tough diagnosis, Dan eventually regained sight in his left eye, a miracle according to the head surgeon. Dan refused to quit and went on to deploy twice more, first back to the Middle East in 2014 and then South Korea in 2016.

Dan was medically retired in September of 2016 as a Lieutenant Commander after serving ten years in the SEAL Teams. He left service with two Bronze Stars (one with Valor), the Purple Heart, and the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, among many other accolades. Soon after, Dan completed his Master’s in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Shortly after Dan returned to Houston, his community was hit by Hurricane Harvey. 

The storm brought devastation the region had never seen before. He spent his time volunteering in areas of Katy, helping his neighbors recover from the damage. He saw first-hand the unthinkable losses that Texas suffered, but he also saw Texan grit and resilience. This inspired him to do more for his community. Shortly after, Dan and Tara decided that the best way to serve the people of Texas would be in elected office.

In November 2018, Dan was elected to represent the people of Texas’s Second Congressional District. He believes in service before self and understands that there is no higher calling than service to the American people. Although he can no longer fight on the battlefield, the integrity, leadership, vision, and tenacity he learned in the SEAL teams is present every day in his fight for common sense solutions in Congress.

In fact, it's ridiculous, preposterous and disheartening all at once.

You're looking at the writer for Vogue magazine who reportedly lambasted Melania for wearing high heels to visit Texas flood victims. Only problem is, Melania didn't wear heels. On Air Force One (on the way to the event) she changed into a slacks and sneakers along with a baseball-style cap that said FLOTUS.
But just look at Lynn Yeager (above) the writer who criticized Melania's fashion sense. Maybe you need another photo.



Can you imagine this?
Can you imagine this woman criticizing anybody's sense of fashion or style or dress or whatever?
Can you? We didn't think so.
Now, just look at both of them side-by side as we rest our case.

C'mon: Here's How You Can Help Right NOW!

Philadelphia Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. has asked that all parishes in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia consider taking up a one-time, special collection on the weekend of September 16-17, 2017 to support continued relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

This special collection is part of a national initiative called for by Archbishop José H. Gomez, vice-president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, to benefit the victims of this natural disaster and to provide pastoral and rebuilding support to impacted dioceses.

All contributed funds will support Catholic Charities’ USA, which is providing aid to victims of Hurricane Harvey. These funds will support disaster response and recovery efforts including direct assistance, rebuilding, and health care services.

Guess Who's Come To The Rescue -- AGAIN!

Governor Chris Christie today approved an Emergency Management Assistance Compact request for National Guard resources to be deployed to Texas from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, to assist with Hurricane Harvey emergency response efforts.

On Wednesday morning, eight Army National Guard crew members, including four pilots and four crew chiefs, and four Air National Guard rescue personnel will depart the Joint Base and arrive in Dallas come Friday, accompanied by equipment that will include two UH-60 Blackhawks, one outfitted with rescue hoist and equipment.

The National Guard Bureau has also asked New Jersey leaders to begin contingency planning for a Brigade Combat Team to potentially be deployed as part of a multi-state guard contingency task force, if required and requested by Texas. That deployment and the number of personnel involved would be determined only after a request from Texas.

“With real-life experience and top-notch training, the emergency response members from our Joint Base and our State Police are invaluable resources that will help lift Texas out of the devastation and despair caused by Hurricane Harvey,” Governor Christie said. “I will continue to make good on my promise to authorize and deploy every available resource possible for the tens of thousands of disaster victims who need rescuing, and who will need our recovery assistance in the days and weeks ahead.”

Today’s action supplements Governor Christie’s deployment of New Jersey Task Force 1 to Texas on Sunday evening.

Adult Diaper Scheme Indictments

A brother and sister from Sugar Land have been accused of bilking Medicaid for more than $1 million with a scheme involving bogus claims for adult diapers.
A federal grand jury indicted Benjamin and Rose Essien on charges of conspiracy, eight counts of health care fraud and two counts aggravated identity theft for fraudulently filing claims, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the state Attorney General’s Office.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Mary Milloy allowed their release Wednesday in lieu of a $50,000 bond each. The 11-count indictment, returned under seal April 30, was unsealed Tuesday.
The siblings were arrested on Wednesday.
The siblings could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
The indictment alleges that between April 2004 and August 2006, the Essiens, who owned and operated Logic World Medical, a medical equipment company in Houston, regularly billed Medicaid for adult diapers and other urinary incontinence supplies but either did not deliver them to Medicaid beneficiaries, delivered fewer diapers than were requested in claims, or provided supplies when they were not requested and physicians had not prescribed them.
The supplies included adult diapers, underpads, wipes and pull-up briefs.
The indictment alleges the siblings billed Medicaid for claims totaling $1,782,861 and received payments for those claims totaling $1,101,865.
The siblings are also accused of unlawfully using and transferring personal identification information of Medicaid beneficiaries and Medicaid participating physicians as part of their scam. Conspiracy to commit health care fraud and the health-care fraud charges carry a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Each health care fraud count carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and $250,000 fine. The aggravated identity theft charges carry a mandatory two-year sentence, which must be served consecutive to any sentence imposed for the fraud charges.
