World Renowned: A Special Dining Experience!

We've concluded our trip to countryside Virginia with the coupe de gras -- a stop at the legendary Inn at Little Washington.

We were enticed to the Inn by a wonderful documentary that tells the story of the property and its legendary founder Patrick O'Connell. The Inn at Little Washington is the first and only Three Star Michelin restaurant in the Washington DC metropolitan area. The Inn is also the longest tenured Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond restaurant in the world.

Dinner at the Inn is a relaxed and sumptuous affair. Now, we are not gourmands so we'll leave the many epicurean details and French terminology to others. We can simply say that the multi-course meal you'll enjoy here will be something you will always remember.

The Inn is lush inside with every detail thought of and meticulously tended to -- so much so that you are simply cocooned in a cushy nest of beauty. Service is seamless course-after-course as you savor what amounts to a festive tasting menu. No one part of the meal is overwhelming with various tastes combined in harmonious dishes that are just beautiful to look and, in many ways, an introduction to your palate. Much of the food is grown on site or raised nearby. Staff is superb without being haughty or in the least bit intimidating — very accessible, respectful and helpful.

You can linger over your dinner as long as you want — no rush whatsoever. In fact you should figure on spending two to three hours at your dinner table. The night is yours. A meal here is an event to savor and remember, always!
